Baby Bird Amigurumi

As one of their Master Makers Fairfield World provided me with the fiberfill used in this project as well as compensating me for this post, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

I keep thinking that spring has arrived in Utah, the weather warms up, it is beautiful outside, and then the next day it snows. I guess maybe that does mean spring has arrived in Utah, unpredictable, warm one day cold the next. I felt like the world's worst mom a couple of weeks ago when I sent my kids to school in the morning without checking the weather forecast. It had been nice for several days and that morning we woke up to everything being wet like it had rained overnight. It was overcast so I figured it would rain some more. One of my boys tried to convince me that he didn't need to wear a jacket because it wasn't cold outside anymore. I made him wear it anyway but just a jacket not a coat. I sent all of my kids to school in sweatshirt type jackets. One of them had on canvas shoes. Another had on slip on dress shoes with no socks. Minutes after the last one got on her bus it started snowing. Big, fat flakes. And it kept snowing. It wasn't long before everything was white. We probably got 3 inches of snow. I felt horrible. It seems like we have gotten a lot of snow this year and I am so ready to be done with it. I am ready for spring weather. Spring always makes me think of things like birds and flowers so in hopes that spring will truly be here soon I decided to make a little crocheted bird.

Kids Crafts- Leather Bookmarks

This month Alli from Made with Happy has put together a series of Kid's Crafts from Around the World. When she asked for people who wanted to participate I was really excited to sign up. First of all I thought it sounded like a really fun idea. I have always enjoyed learning about different countries and cultures and I think kid's crafts are a fun way to do that. In fact, a couple of years ago I spent a summer doing "Mom School" with my kids using an around the world type theme. We did some fun projects based on the different countries we were learning about. We made little passports, learned about the different flags, did little craft projects and cooked food from different places. It was a lot of fun. This kind of reminded me of that. The other reason why I was really excited was because I knew exactly what country I wanted to do.

Bobble Stripe Crochet Dishcloth

It has been a while since I posted a new dishcloth pattern so I thought it was probably about time that I did. I wanted to use the bobble stitch and have it be really bumpy but not necessarily solid bobbles so I came up with this design that alternates sections of bobble stitch with a couple rows of half double crochet. I thought it would add some nice texture and contrast between the sections.

Easter Gift Idea for Friends and Neighbors

In the Easter Advent that we are doing with our kids the activity for today was to make treats and take them to someone. I knew that we wouldn't really have time to make treats tonight because it also happens to be my son's birthday and we would be spending some time this evening celebrating that. I also felt like I didn't just want to do some sort of sweet treats, but since the whole point of the activities is to help us remember the true meaning of Easter I wanted to include something more along those lines. I had printed of a scripture printable, John 3:16,  from Melissa Esplin to use for my own home so I thought why not print off a few more to give to other people.

Christ Centered Easter Advent

I have been meaning to get this post up for several days but it seems like things just kept coming up. I feel bad that it is so late but better late than never I guess. I am really excited to work with Sugardoodle, and some amazing bloggers who are sharing their awesome Easter projects and ideas. The idea that I want to share today is an Easter advent activity created by Sugar Bee Crafts. With 5 little kids I am always looking for fun, creative, kid friendly ways to incorporate the true meaning of holidays like Easter. The Easter Bunny, Easter Baskets, egg hunts and all of that is a lot of fun but I want my kids to know that that is not the real reason why we celebrate Easter. That it is a time to remember Christ and the sacrifice he made for all of us. Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in the other things that  we forget the real reason behind it.

Crocheted Easter Egg With or Without a Pocket

I made these flat Easter egg shapes with a very specific idea in mind which I will share in my next post, but first I wanted to share the pattern. You can use them for lots of different things. I made my first one just one flat layer because I was trying out the pattern. If you make them like that you could make several and crochet them together with a string of chains across the top to make an Easter egg garland, you could use them as coasters, or just ornaments to hang somewhere. For my real plan with them I wanted them to have pockets so I made one full egg for the front and a half an egg for the back and then crocheted around the edge to put them together. Like I said, I have a purpose in mind for them that I will share tomorrow, but in addition to that they would also work well as part of your Easter table place setting, You can put napkins and utensils in the little pocket and set them next to everyones plates.

Seeing Spots Cuddle Baby Quilt

A few weeks ago I got a package in the mail filled with gorgeous fabrics from Shannon Fabrics to use in a couple of projects. I just finished one of the projects and posted it over on the Fairfield World site. I made a baby quilt with the cuddle fabric that I got and I absolutely love the way it turned out. The arrow fabric will be used in a different project soon.

Crochet Succulents in Painted Mason Jars

-This post contains affiliate links-

I keep seeing crafts and decor using succulents everywhere, on Pinterest, Instagram, other blogs, they seem to be all over the place and they have been for a while. I have had the idea of trying to make a crocheted version quite some time but I was really stuck on what to put them in. I thought about trying to crochet the whole thing, pot and plant, or maybe buying some little terra cotta type pots and painting them. I wasn't sure I liked either of those ideas so the idea remained a scribble in my notebook and nothing came of it for a long time. Every once in awhile I would see something and think, I really should try out that idea that I had, but the same problem was always there.

I can't believe it is already Thursday again. That means it is time once again for the Creatively Crafty Link Party. I have several new projects to get up on my blog and between sick kids, me being sick, an catching up on everything that didn't get done while people were sick I have not managed to get a new blog post up this week. Hopefully this next week will be more productive for me and I can share some of the things I have ready. Anyway, back to the link party. Round Crochet Cluster Stitch Pillow

-This post contains affiliate links-

Yesterday I posted a new pattern for Fairfield World. One of the products that they have is a round pillow form and I have been wanting to try it out for awhile. I finally got around to ordering one and made myself a nice springy crocheted pillow.

Scrapbook Paper Covered Letter

It is the first of the month again which means it is time for another Creative Craft Bloggers Challenge. This month the theme of our challenge was scrapbook paper. That was an interesting challenge for me simply because I do not do a lot of paper crafts. My project isn't anything that hasn't been done before but it was something that I had been wanting to make and this was a perfect opportunity to make it.
