Infusible Ink T-Shirt

A couple of months ago I received a box in the mail from Cricut. It was filled with all sorts of infusible ink goodies and I have shared a few projects I made including a tote bag, and two sets of coasters. In the box they also sent a t-shirt and although I made it around the same time I haven't gotten around to sharing it yet and thought it was about time. 

The shirt I used was one of the Cricut Infusible Ink blanks, they have a variety of sizes in mens, women, youth, and baby bodysuits. I was sent a women's small, which was too small for me but the perfect size for my daughter. When she found that out she was super excited and asked if she could pick the design and help make it.

She chose this heart design with the Watercolor Splash Infusible Ink Sheets. This is probably my favorite of the patterned sheets. I love the blend of colors.

One thing to know about the infusible ink sheets is that the colors on the actual sheets appear really dull but once the design is pressed on the sheets the color is so vibrant. Eliza thought it was so cool to see how bright the finished colors were when we peeled back the sheet. She also loved seeing how the ink actually goes into the fabric of the t-shirt instead of sitting on top of it like with iron on or htv.

How to Make an Infusible Ink T-Shirt

You will need:

• Cricut Infusible Ink Compatible T-Shirt
• Cricut Infusible Ink Sheet- Watercolor Splash
• Cricut Maker or Explore
• EasyPress 2
• EasyPress Mat
• White Cardstock
• Butcher Paper
• Lint Roller

Instructions:

To make this shirt I used the instructions, including heat settings, found in the Heat Guide.

Begin by choosing or creating your design. You can find the design we used HERE.

Cut your design using the infusible ink sheet setting. Don't forget to mirror your design just like you would with any iron on. 

Heat your EasyPress to 385.

Place the cardstock inside of the t-shirt to prevent bleeding. Lint roll the front of the t-shirt. Cover the shirt with a piece of butcher paper that is larger than the heat plate of the EasyPress. Preheat the front of the shirt for 15 seconds.

Remove the butcher paper and place the design on the shirt, liner side up. Replace the butcher paper.

Press with light pressure for 40 seconds.

Slowly lift the press and carefully remove the liner.
