5 Little Monsters: Smart is the New Cool T-Shirt

Smart is the New Cool T-Shirt

I wanted to make a couple of Back-to School themed t-shirts this year, but I kind of wanted to do something that wasn't specific to the first day of school or the grade the child is going into. I have seen a lot of the "First Day of First Grade" type of shirts and although they are fun and cute I feel like they are only really good to wear that one day. If I am going to make a shirt I would rather it be something that can be worn over and over again.

I still wanted something that had to do with school or learning so I came up with a couple of designs, made the shirts, and am ready to share them here. Both of the designs I made are pretty gender neutral and could work for girls or boys, just change up the colors of vinyl you use.

The first t-shirt design says "Smart is the new Cool". I made it for my daughter so I cut it out of pink and purple iron on, her favorite colors.

I pressed them on a plain white t-shirt that I picked up on clearance at Walmart. This time of year is great for picking up plain t-shirts for cheap as stores are clearing them out to make room for fall and winter clothes.

How to Make a "Smart is the New Cool" T-Shirt

You will need:

Instructions:

Open the Design Space file

Resize the design if needed to fit your shirt.

Cut the design from two colors of iron on. Don't forget to mirror your design.

Weed the designs, the font for "smart" and "cool" is a little hard to weed with all of the little pieces in the shadow, but I liked the finished look so I thought it was worth it.

Press the first layer (Smart /COOL). Peel up the transfer plastic and place the 2nd layer down (is the new/glasses), cover the first layer with the transfer plastic you just peeled off or with parchment paper or a protective sheet to protect the the first layer, then press the 2nd layer.
