5 Little Monsters: Patriotic Perler Bead Designs

Patriotic Perler Bead Designs

With the school year ending, or already ended for some people, it is time to start thinking of activities to fill the summer. We try to limit how much screen time our kids can have in the summer and I know it won't be long in our house before we start hearing kids say that they are bored and that there is nothing to do. Mostly just as an attempt to get us to give in and let them have more screen time.

One of my kid's favorite activities is to make stuff with fuse beads. Sometimes they like making specific shapes and designs, and other times they just fill in the pegboards to make squares, hearts, stars, and other shapes.

Last year I shared some summer themed Perler Bead designs and they have been one of the most popular posts since then, so it seems like my kids aren't the only one that enjoy them. Every time we pull out the bucket of beads the kids spend days making stuff. I love seeing their creativity.

I wanted to make some more summer designs and this time I thought it would be fun to make some that were patriotic themed. I made a total of 5 designs that are perfect for Memorial Day, Flag Day, the 4th of July, or any other time you want. There is a flag on a pole, a couple of patriotic heart designs, a USA, and a patriotic popsicle.

How to Make Patriotic Perler Bead Designs

You will need:

  • Perler Beads in Red, White, and Blue (and a little black or gray for the flagpole)
  • square pegboard 14x14 or larger
  • iron (I use my Cricut EasyPress Mini)
  • Perler Bead pressing paper

Instructions:

Put the beads on the peg board following the colors on the graph.

Cover the design with the paper and iron at medium heat for 10-15 seconds or until the beads start to fuse together.

Take it off the peg board and paper, flip over and repeat on the other side.
