5 Little Monsters: Diagonal Bobbles Dishcloth

Diagonal Bobbles Dishcloth

It has been quite a while since I have posted a new dishcloth/washcloth pattern, but they are one of my favorite things to crochet in the summer. They are small and quick to make, and a fun way to try out new stitches. So I thought it was time for another.

For this new pattern I chose to use a bobble stitch pattern. Bobble stitches are great for projects like dishcloths because of the raised, bumpy texture that they make. It make a perfect scrubby surface for washing.

You can use bobble stitches to make different raised designs, like this heart dishcloth, or striped sections, like this bobble stripe dishcloth, or you can just do all over bobble stitches for a super bumpy dishcloth.

For this one I used the bobbles to make raised diagonal stripes on the the dishcloth. I love the raised lines. It is a simple pattern of single crochet stitches and bobble stitches and by moving the bobble over one stitch with each new row you create that diagonal line. It is fun to see the lines begin to appear as you finish the rows. Bobble stitches pop out on the back of your work, on the wrong side rows, so when you flip it over to work the next row you see the new row of bobbles lined up.
