Faux Etched Glass Mirrors

Not too long ago I got an idea for something I wanted to make for my oldest daughter, even though it is my youngest daughter in the pictures. I thought it would be cool to make a mirror that we could put up in her room that would be a little reminder that someone loves her. I wanted it to say something positive that she would see when she looked in the mirror.

I wanted it to have the look of etched glass without actually needing to etch the glass. I thought I would look around and see if I could find vinyl that would give me that look. One of the first places I looked was Expressions Vinyl and I found exactly what I was looking for. They had etched glass vinyl in 4 different colors- silver, blue, green, and red (actually more of a pink). I ordered some of each color. Then I couldn't decide which color or phrase to use so I ended up making 3 different mirrors and let her choose which one she liked the best. I made one that says "You are Beautiful" one that says "You are Amazing" and one that says "You are Loved" but you could put any phrase you want on them.

I picked up the mirrors at Walmart for less than $5 and they are 16 inches square. I sized my words to fit in the corner of the mirrors. If you wanted to use a bigger or smaller mirror you could easily adjust the size to better fit the mirror you are using. It was really hard to get pictures of the mirrors but hopefully you can get the idea of what they look like.

How to Make

You will need:

Instuctions:

The first thing you will need to do is figure out what you want your mirror to say. If you have a Cricut you can use my design space file. You can obviously make it say anything you want. I chose to use 2 different fonts and colors for each mirror and saying. Then you just cut it out as you normally would, weed it, use transfer tape to pull it off the backing paper and place it on the mirror. I think this could be a really easy and fun project for girls to make themselves. It doesn't take long to make and is a great little reminder to look at everyday.
