A few weeks ago I was at Michael's picking up some supplies I needed for a project and I was browsing through the Christmas craft stuff, not really intending to buy anything, but I saw these chunky unfinished wood Christmas shapes that they had, and I thought they would make cute Christmas decor with a little bit of paint and vinyl, plus they happened to be on sale so I picked one up.

Wood and Paper Mod Podge Christmas Ornaments

I always have so many plans for December crafts, but then life gets so busy this time of year that I never seem to get all of it done. This has been a problem my whole life. I used to make a lot more handmade gifts than I do now, and never seemed to get all of them done before Christmas. I remember as a teenager deciding I was going to make a patchwork quilt for my mom. I stayed up late working on it but when Christmas morning came all I had to show her was a pile of strips of squares that I had sewn together. And that is definitely not the only time that has happened to me.

Give Thanks Pumpkin

Today I am interrupting the Christmas crafting to pop in with a Thanksgiving project. It is always kind of weird as a crafter because I want to get a head start on upcoming holidays to make sure I have the projects done before the season/holiday they are for, but also thinking about the current season/holiday and coming up with ideas for that.

Layered Wood Pumpkins

I am not a huge pumpkin fan when it comes to foods and/or drinks, but when it comes to fall decor I do love them. And with the arrival of September comes pumpkin season in my mind. One reason I like pumpkins is that they work so well from September through November. From general fall decor, through to Halloween, and Thanksgiving.

Wood Burned Coasters

This project is one that has been on my to-do list for a long time. Well, maybe not this exact project but I have wanted to make a wood burned project for at least the past year. I just couldn't make up my mind exactly what I wanted to make and what I wanted it to look like.

Home Sweet Home Block

-Some products used in this post provided by Cricut and Plaid Crafts, all ideas and opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links.-

I have had this little house shaped block sitting in my craft supplies for months after I picked it up at Michaels. It is actually supposed to be a birdhouse but I thought it would be cute with "Home Sweet Home" or some other home themed saying on it. I brought it home and set it in my wood shapes bin and kind of forgot about it.

Dream Big Sign

For Christmas we put together a little craft area for our oldest daughter. She loves making things and spending time in my craft room playing with all of my supplies. A month or two ago I shared part of the gift we put together for her. We put together a beginner craft kit with lots of supplies so that she could make pretty much anything she wanted without needing to get into my stuff.

Joy Wreath Sign

I recently shared a simple Christmas craft project over on Design Dazzle as part of their Christmas Wonderful Series and today I am going to share it here. This little Joy Wreath Sign is a really quick and easy project to make, and I think it turned out pretty cute.

Buffalo Check Believe Sign

A couple of months ago I ordered some red and black buffalo check vinyl from Cricut, thinking that it would be fun for Christmas projects. I am starting to work on more Christmas crafts and finally had the chance to pull it out and use it on something.

Welcome Sign with the Cricut Maker

-Product and compensation for this post provided by Cricut, all ideas and opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links-

I have needed something new to hang on my door and for a while now I have been wanting to make a wooden welcome sign. After a summer of not having a lot of time to craft I finally sat down and made my welcome sign. It felt really great to get some crafting time in and even better to finish a project that I could use in my home.

Easy Mod Podge Framed Art

Today I am participating in another round of Craft Lightning, this time with the theme of "Wood". We were challenged to make a wood project that takes 15 minutes or less, excluding drying time. I thought this one would be a piece of cake but I had a hard time figuring out a project. I had another project in mind and it was a total fail. I had to scratch that idea and come up with a plan B.

Kid Friendly DIY Wooden Nativity

-Product for this post provided by Oriental Trading Company-

I found these cute little wooden nativities on Oriental Trading and I thought they would be really fun for kids to make. The sets of little peg dolls include Joseph, Mary, and the Baby Jesus. You can also get a stable to set behind them. I thought the kids would love painting and decorating them so I ordered a set with the stables. I also ordered some painting supplies and felt to use to decorate. They come in a set of 6 which happens to be perfect for my family.

Painted Pumpkin with Crocheted Flowers

-This post sponsored by Darice-

I recently shared another post on the Darice blog, Live Craft Love, this time a quick fall project. All you need is a wooded pumkin cutout, some paint, and some crocheted flowers in fall colors. The flowers add a fun decorative touch to a simple wooden shape.

Stenciled Address Sign and Front Door Update

-Products for this project provided by DecoArt. This post contains affiliate links-

There is not much time left before the weather starts to cool and summer is over. Fall is my favorite time of year so I am not sad about that, but I had an outdoor project that I had been wanting to do for a while and I wanted to make sure I got it done before it started getting to cold. We have lived in our house for over 7 years and when we first bought the house we said that one of the first things we wanted to do was paint the doors. They were a kind of sagey green color and they weren't very well painted because you could see a brighter teal color coming through in some areas. I didn't love the color and we figured painting them would be an easy fix and a lot less expensive than replacing the doors.

BOO! Sign

This week I am joining with a whole bunch of other bloggers to share some quick and easy, 15 minute or less, Halloween projects that you can make with a Cricut. And you may want to stick around to the end of this post because along with lots of fun Halloween ideas there is a giveaway too, and it's a good one.

Today I have a fun project to share that uses some cool products that I haven't ever used before, but first I want to talk tools and accessories. What do you really need for your Cricut projects? And what kinds of things are not needs but are nice to have?

Be Grateful Sign for Thanksgiving

-Product for this post provided by Cricut, all ideas and opinions are my own-
-may contain affiliate links-

I feel like sometimes it is really easy to pass over Thanksgiving because once Halloween is past Christmas kind of takes over. I know I have already started working on and planning Christmas projects so that I can hopefully get them up on my blog early enough for people to use them for Christmas. I wanted to make sure I didn't just completely pass by Thanksgiving though so I made a really quick and easy wood and vinyl sign with my Cricut. The longest part is waiting for the paint to dry. And really although I made it for Thanksgiving it is a good reminder all year round.

Halloween Embroidery Trio

~This post may contain affiliate links~

Every month I design a few projects for Fairfield World using their products. Occasionally they will partner with other companies so that we can use their products in out projects as well. When they asked if I was interested in using DecoArt products in one of my projects I knew right away the type of project that I wanted to do. Earlier this year I made an embroidery that combined a stencil and fabric paint with the embroidery. It was really fun to combine paint and embroidery and it turned out to be one of my very favorite projects. I wanted to do something similar to that again. I picked out the paints that I wanted to try, SoSoft Fabric Paint to paint on the fabric, and Chalky Finish Paint to paint the frames. I originally thought that I would make a Christmas project but when I got the paints I was really excited to get started on a project and there were some colors that I thought would be perfect for Halloween. I decided to do a Halloween project instead. I like to use interfacing or fusible fleece behind my embroidery projects and for this project I chose to use Smooth Fusible Fleece from Fairfield World.
