Summer is in full swing here and life has been a bit crazy with all of the summer activities. I have not been posting as much as I had hoped to the past couple of months. Every year as the school year winds down I think that this year will be different and I will actually be organized enough to get all of the projects I have planned done and posted despite every other part of my life being super busy. And then May arrives and there are a million end of the school year activities and then summer comes and everything that comes along with that, having kids home, trips, camps, running kids to all of their activities, and I find myself realizing that it has been almost a month since I last posted and in fact this year was not different than other and I am just as behind on getting posts up as I am every other year.

Summer Vibes Tote Bag

Summer time means outings to the pool, parks, and other places where you are going to have to carry all the things with you- towels, sunscreen, snacks, water bottles, etc. So who couldn't use a fun tote bag to carry it all in?

Painted Ceramic Fairy Houses

My kids are always begging me to paint, it is one of their favorite craft projects, and although it can get a little messy I feel like it is one of the easiest to let them do. Especially when they have something specific to paint. If you are looking for a fun summer craft activity for kids this was a big hit with my kids.

Every year when the kids get out of school I think I have a great plan for how to transition to having them home all day, while keeping a good routine, and continuing to stay on track with my blog, and every year it doesn't really work out that way. This summer has started off crazy and sometimes when that happens my blog work is the first thing to get set aside.

Earth Themed Perler Bead Designs

In April I planned a set of Perler Bead Designs to share for Earth Day. I created the patterns and everything, but I didn't actually get them made in time to take pictures and write up a blog post before Earth Day so I ended up just pushing it aside and not posting it.

I can't believe that summer is almost here. My kids only have a couple of weeks of school left before they are out for summer vacation. So with spring holidays over and summer just around the corner I have been trying to switch my crafting focus to summer crafts.

Clay Disc Bead Bracelets

This week's Summer Camp Craft Saturday project is a little late. I had a super busy week ending with my 5 year old's birthday, but I figured better late than never so here we are. This week we are making bracelets again, but this time with beads. Clay disc beads to be exact.

Ice Dyed Scrunchies

We are at week 3 of the 9 weeks of Summer Camp Craft Saturdays. So far we have done friendship bracelets, and painted rocks. One of the camp crafts I wanted to be sure to include in this series was tie dye. But since I have a few tie dye projects on my blog already, I kind of wanted to try something I hadn't done before.

It is time for another Summer Camp Craft Saturday! This is the second of 9 weeks of summer camp crafts, and we are painting rocks.

Friendship Bracelets- 5 Ways

I grew up in a very crafty house, my mom taught me to make lots of different kinds of crafts, to sew, and crochet, but I still feel like I also have great memories of making crafts at my church girl's camp in the summer, or other activities where we would make simple crafts. There is a certain nostalgia that comes with those summer camp type crafts. I think it is because they are something that most of us probably experienced in some way as a kid and it brings back those memories of childhood, and some of those earliest creative, crafty experiences.

Wood and Vinyl Summer Decor

Adding a little paint and vinyl to a piece of wood is an easy way to make a quick decoration for any season or holiday. I wanted to make some summer decorations that weren't specifically 4th of July, since that is the main summer holiday that we decorate for, I wanted something more just summery. So I pulled out my Cricut, some vinyl, and paints.

With the school year ending, or already ended for some people, it is time to start thinking of activities to fill the summer. We try to limit how much screen time our kids can have in the summer and I know it won't be long in our house before we start hearing kids say that they are bored and that there is nothing to do. Mostly just as an attempt to get us to give in and let them have more screen time.

Aurora Water Bottle Holder

Earlier this year I made a scarf and then later a hat using the same stitch pattern made up of rows of double crochet stitches, double crochet mesh and crossed double crochet stitches. I called the scarf the Aurora Scarf because the yarn I used changed from pink to blue, just like Aurora's dress in Sleeping Beauty. I loved the stitch pattern so much that I made the Aurora Hat pattern shortly after that.

Tie-Dye Baby Onesies with Iron On Decals

A couple of weeks ago I shared the tie-died onesies that we made with the dye we had leftover after tie-dying face masks, so today I am sharing what we did to them next.

Crocheted Freezer Pop Holders- 2 Styles

freezer pops in crocheted holders

Every summer my kids love to eat Otter Pops (or other similar freezer pops), and every summer I think about making some little crocheted holders to keep their hands from getting super cold, and every summer I don't get around to it. I usually end up just wrapping paper towels around the popsicle so they have something to hold onto, or just let them have cold hands.

Alternating V-Stitch Water Bottle Carrier

Just over a week ago I shared a roundup of small crochet projects that are perfect for summer and warm weather, times when you don't want big, heavy projects draped over you, and when you aren't going to wear hats and scarves. One of the things I included in that roundup was a water bottle carrier. I made that one a few years ago and thought maybe it was time to make another version.

DIY Summer Window Clings

I recently got a bunch of crafty projects and kits for my kids and one of the things that I got was a set of sun catchers. The kids loved seeing how the paint went on thick and opaque but dried thin and transparent. Making the sun catchers reminded me of some paints that I had that could be used to make window clings and I thought it would be fun to make a summer themed set.

24 Quick Crochet Projects for Summer

I think that crochet often gets seen as a cold weather craft. In the fall and winter we make lots of hats, scarves, and blankets, and other cold weather accessories. But once the weather starts to warm there isn't the same need for hats and scarves, and the thought of working on a big, heavy blanket isn't very appealing. That doesn't mean there aren't plenty of summery crochet projects though. I looked through my crochet patterns and picked out 24 quick and easy, small projects that would be perfect for making this summer. Some are summery in theme (like 4th of July) and others are just small projects that would be great for any time of year.

Summer Perler Bead Patterns

In an attempt to keep the screen time to a minimum in our house these last few weeks with everyone home I thought it would be fun to set up a little kids activity station in our living room. Most of my kids really like doing little arts and crafts, but I don't really love them getting into my craft supplies. I thought maybe setting up an area with stuff that they could just use, no need to ask would help keep them busy and creative.

Mason Jar Solar Lanterns

My mom recently showed me some lanterns that she had made using mason jars, solar lights, rocks, and fake succulents. They don't take a lot to make but look really neat sitting on a patio table or inside on a windowsill.
