Anne of Green Gables Doll

-This post may contain affiliate links-

This week is my birthday so I thought it would be fun to celebrate a little. I usually am not a birthday person, I don't like to make a big deal about it or really draw attention to it, but I have been wanting to come up with a reason to do a few giveaways and figured this would be the perfect excuse. I have reached out to a few of my favorite brands and will have different giveaways happening each day leading up to my birthday on Thursday. They will all be happening over on Instagram but I will share all the details on my blog and other social media accounts as well.

Crocheted Robot Softie

Today I am excited to be sharing a new crochet pattern as part of the 2020 Softie Crochet Along. This is the third year I have participated in this particular crochet along (my previous projects were a dinosaur and a flamingo), and I always look forward to it because softies are one of my favorite things to crochet.

Crocheted Mermaid Doll

My newest pattern for Fairfield World is now available on their site and I love the way this one turned out. This crocheted mermaid doll has been a huge hit with my girls. She is about 18" tall which I thought was a great size to play with.

Crocheted Llama

-Product and compensation for this project provided by Fairfield World-

Llamas are everywhere lately so I decided I wanted to try crocheting one. I had a hard time decided if I wanted to make it standing on all fours, or more like a doll/teddy bear style, or if I wanted to make it more flat, like a pillow. I decided on all fours but I think I might try one of the other styles, or maybe both, in the future. I think it would also look kind of neat to make a striped blanket to throw over it's back. I didn't get around to making that with this one but if I make another style of llama in the future I think I will add something like that for sure.

Crocheted Baby Doll Set

-Project Sponsored by Fairfield World-

I have been wanting to make a baby doll and doll set that included a moses basket style bed for a while, with 3 little girls in our house dolls are pretty popular around here. I recently got around to making the doll as well as a bed, blanket, and pillow set. I think it would make a really fun Christmas gift for a little girl, or a gift for an older sibling getting a new baby brother or sister.

Lucy's Crochet Unicorn

My little Lucy loves unicorns. I'm not really sure when it started or where it came from but lately she has been obsessed. The only thing she told us that she wanted for Christmas was a unicorn. She ended up with some unicorn toys, unicorn pajamas, and a unicorn book. A few days before Christmas I was looking at my yarn wanting to make something, not that I didn't have projects I needed to work on, I just wanted to make something just to make it. I saw some pink yarn that I had left from a couple of other projects (I used it for Mary's shawl in my nativity and for a little clutch that I made that combined sewing and crochet) and the thought popped into my head that Lucy would love a pink unicorn.

Crocheted Halloween Witch

I have been working on a lot of Halloween themed projects lately and today's project is one of them. This little stuffed, crocheted witch is about 9" tall, which is a little bigger than I had originally pictured when I came up with the idea but I think it turned out to be a good size for setting out as a decoration or for playing with. My 8 year old daughter has already claimed this one for herself.

Star Patchwork Doll Quilt

At the beginning of this week I shared that I was going to be participating in a competition for craft bloggers called So You Think You're Crafty. The theme for this week was Stash Bust, the projects were posted anonymously on Monday and the winner for the week was announced today along with who made which project so now I can tell you which one was mine and share the tutorial. My project didn't win this week but I did make it through to next week. My project was the little doll quilt.

Birthday Doll Clothes & Free Doll Tote Bag Tutorial

My daughter just had her 7th birthday. The day before her birthday we did some things to celebrate as a family and we got her a gift. We explained that that was her birthday gift and she wouldn't be getting anything on her actual birthday and she was fine with that, until later that night when she started talking about what she wanted on her actual birthday. I know my little girl and I know what a big deal her birthday is so I wanted to surprise her with something small for her birthday. The week leading up to her birthday we spent working on moving some rooms around and working on some stuff in the house. Part of that was moving my craft room stuff so I hadn't really had much of a chance to work on a gift the days leading up to her birthday. She is really into American Girl dolls, and by American Girl dolls I really mean the cheaper knockoff versions that you can get at Walmart or Target, so I had planned to make some little clothes and accessories for her doll. I did a search for free doll clothes patterns, printed some off, chose fabrics, cut out some outfits, and did a little sewing.

A Dolly Quilt for Christmas

This is the last Christmas gift that I am going to be posting about. I have shared a lot of the things that I made for my oldest daughter for Christmas but she is not the only one that I made gifts for. I made more for her than I did for any of the other kids, we hardly bought any of her gifts, but I did make a few other things. One of the other things that I made was a baby doll quilt for my middle daughter, Lucy. She got a Cabbage Patch doll for Christmas. We joked a little that it was like 1980 something in our house on Christmas morning, in addition to Lucy's Cabbage Patch doll, our youngest daughter got a Care Bear and our youngest son got Transformers. It was like we were reliving our childhood Christmases. Anyway, back to the quilt. I thought that Lucy would like a few little accessories to go along with her baby and of course one of those things had to be a little doll quilt.

A Girl Scout Sash For Your Doll

About a year ago our kids school started up a little girl scout troop and we decided to let Eliza join. The first year there were only a couple of girls but this school year they have grown quite a bit and now there are several little girls in their troop. Eliza has really enjoyed it and really looks forward to the days that she has girl scouts. Because she is deaf and goes to a deaf school her school friends don't live near us, they are spread out all over the valley and some even further. As a result she doesn't have many opportunities to get together with them outside of school. She loves her friends and I think that is a big part of why she has enjoyed girl scouts so much. It is a chance to do something with her friends each week outside of school.

School Supplies for Your Doll

Back to doll accessories, today it is school supplies. If you are sick of doll stuff I promise I will be done soon. If you like it, well, I still have a 6 year old daughter so I am sure that although I have almost finished posting all of the doll things from Christmas there will probably be more someday. Not to mention the fact that she has 2 younger sisters so I am sure there will be lots of doll stuff in our house for several more years.

I thought it would be fun to make Eliza some little things to play school with her doll. I figured that since school is such a huge part of her life right now, she might enjoy having some school things for her doll.

Accessories for Your Doll's Pets: Dog Bed and Leash Tutorial

The other thing that Eliza really wanted for her doll, besides the bed, was a dog. Well, a dog, and a bed for her dog, and a collar and leash for her dog, and a pink tutu for her dog. She saw all of those in the American Girl catalog and, other that the pink tutu, she got all of them. The bed isn't exactly the fancy princess dog bed that she saw in the catalog and the collar is just the one that came sewn onto the dog, no sparkles or rhinestones or anything fancy like the ones that she wanted but when she opened it up Christmas morning she didn't seem to mind at all.

Doll Bed and Bedding Set

I know I have mentioned before that my daughter is really into American Girl Dolls right now, and by American Girl Dolls I really mean any 18 inch dolls, she doesn't really know the difference. She gets the American Girl Catalog in the mail and she loves looking through it and finding all of the things that she wants for her doll. A month or two before Christmas she was looking through the catalog, telling me what she wanted for Christmas. One of the bigger things she wanted was a bed for her doll. Anything in the American Girl catalog was a little outside of Santa's budget this year, and the truth is even if it wasn't I am way to cheap to spend that much money on doll accessories, especially when I know I can make a lot of them for much cheaper.

Knit Doll Cowl and Beanie

In my last post I mentioned some of the things that I am making for Christmas. One of those was a knit hat and cowl set using a free pattern from Red Heart's website. You can find that pattern here.
At the time that I wrote that post I was probably a little over halfway finished with the cowl and had not yet started the beanie. Now they are both finished so I thought I would post about them. I had to be sneaky about taking pictures so that none of my kids saw me with them but I think I managed to do it.

18 inch Doll Accessories: Owl Hat and Striped Scarf

Recently my oldest daughter has become somewhat obsessed with American Girl dolls. She gets the catalog in the mail and loves looking at all of the dolls and their clothes and accessories. She even found and watched videos on You Tube about American Girls dolls. Every time we go to the library she checks out American Girl books, faster than we can read them so most get returned unread. The truth is she will probably never get and American Girl doll because I am way too cheap to ever spend that much money on a doll, but the good news for her is that there are plenty of cheaper options and she doesn't really know the difference. She had her 6th birthday earlier this month and one day, maybe a week before her birthday, we happened to be at Walmart and saw that they had some of their 18 inch dolls on clearance. I knew she would love to get an "American Girl" doll, or anything that looked like one, for her birthday so we grabbed it. I had all sorts of different ideas of things I could make to go along with it but unfortunately the week leading up to her birthday we were super busy so most of them didn't happen. I still have tons of ideas of things I want to make for her so I am sure there will be more doll posts in the future, probably around Christmas time.
