I have wanted to make a little pioneer girl doll for a long time. I have a little Anne of Green Gables doll that I made several years ago because I love the Anne books when I was a kid. Another favorite series of mine was Little House on the Prairie so after making the Anne doll I considered making a Laura doll as well. Today seemed like it was the right day to finally make a little pioneer girl doll for a couple of reasons.

I have always loved playing with colors and pairing different colors together in a project. When I was in college I worked at a quilt shop and one of my favorite things was helping people pull fabrics for quilts or other projects they were making. I just think it is so fun to pair different colors to see how they work together, and create with them. It doesn't matter if it is fabric, yarn, paint, or any other craft medium, playing with colors has always been something I love about creating projects.

Today I am excited to be participating in the Christmas in July Make Along with Underground Crafter. The make along runs the whole month of July, so we are just finishing up week 1. Each week has a different theme of handmade holiday projects, including knitting, crochet, and sewing projects. The theme for each week are:

 It has been 12 years since I started 5 Little Monsters, technically my very first post was at the end of June, but it was pretty much just a post to say, "I'm starting a blog" without really having any more to it than that. The first project post I shared was on July 3, and the first pattern a week or two after that. So it was 12 years ago this month that I first shared my projects and patterns with the internet. I definitely couldn't have imagined at that time what this blog would become for me. 

July Bear of the Month- Little Liberty Bear

July 1st means it is time for the next Bear of the Month. In the United States I feel like the month of July is immediately associated with the 4th of July, so I felt like I had to do a bear that was in some way related to the 4th of July or the USA in some way. The bear I ended up making is the Little Liberty Bear.
