Cozy Clusters Hat

My kids started school this week and there is something about kids going back to school that makes me so ready for fall. I don't love the summer, or more specifically I don't love the heat, so I am ready for cooler temperatures and one of my favorite cooler weather things to make is hats. 

I love crocheting hats for a couple of reasons. One, I thing I love about making hats is that it is a great way to showcase the different textures you can get from crochet stitches, which also happens to be one of my favorite things about crochet. I love trying different stitch patterns to see the different textures they create.  

I have decided that August is going to be hat month here on 5 Little Monsters, and I am hoping to get a couple new hat patterns up, as well as remake/add sizes to some older designs. Along with that I also have a sale running in my Etsy and Ravelry shops this month, all hat patterns in both shops are 25% off through the end of August (8/31/26). I have added a couple of new hat patterns to my shops, but this is the first new hat pattern of the month, the Cozy Clusters Hat. 

This hat is made top down with the top section of increase rounds made in double crochet, then the main body of the hat made of cluster stitches, then it is finished off with a post stitch ribbing. I kept this hat pattern really simple with the rounds of clusters, but it still gives a nice pattern to the hat that works well for any size or gender. 

I made 5 sizes, which is pretty standard for most of my hat patterns, Adult, Child, Toddler, Baby 6-12 Months, and Baby 3-6 Months. I used Loops and Threads Soft Classic to make my hats, any similar medium weight yarn will work. 

How to Crochet the Cozy Clusters Hat

You will need:

• medium weight acrylic (samples made in Loops & Threads Soft Classic in colors Cornflower, Mushroom, Arctic, Dark Taupe, Ice Blue)
• I crochet hook (5.5 mm)
• yarn needle
• scissors

Instructions:

Gauge: 

4 rounds of dc (40 dc) = 4.5"

Special Stitches

Cluster (3 DC Cluster): [yarn over, insert hook in first st, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops] 3 times, yarn over, pull through all 4 loops on hook
