5 Little Monsters: DIY Ring Dish for Mom

DIY Ring Dish for Mom

I am super late getting this post up since Mother's Day is tomorrow, but it is a really quick project so maybe you still have time. Or you can use it for other gifting occasions or save it for next year. I found an inexpensive little wooden tray at Michaels, I think it was only $1, and I thought it would be perfect for a little ring/coin/jewelry dish to set on your nightstand. I thought it would be fun for a little handmade Mother's Day gift, although you could leave off the vinyl saying or change it to make it work for anyone.

Since I wanted to make it for a Mother's Day idea I wanted to add a little vinyl saying to the inside. I chose a couple of options, I think the other said World's Best Mom, and asked my daughter to choose one. She chose "Mom you are Beautiful".

I chose a couple of colors of paint that I thought would be pretty with the gold metallic vinyl I chose, white and a pretty blush pink. I started by painting a couple of coats of white and then taped off half of it to paint pink. Once the paint was all dry I added a clear protective coat because I didn't want jewelry and coins to scratch up the paint. Last I added my vinyl decal.

I think it turned out pretty and is the perfect place for mom to put her rings or empty her pockets at the end of the day.

How to Make a DIY Ring Dish for Mom

You will need:

Instructions:

Paint the tray with white paint. You may need more than one coat. Let dry.

Use tape to make a line diagonally from one corner to the other, including the sides.

Paint one half pink. Let dry.

Spray with clear protective coat.

Cut design that you want to use out of vinyl. I used a design available in Cricut Design Space

Weed the design and use transfer tape to place in the center of the tray.
