5 Little Monsters: Friday Five: 5 Nativity Projects to Make

Friday Five: 5 Nativity Projects to Make

Last week the theme of the Friday Five was Advent Calendars and I mentioned that advent calendars are one of my favorite Christmas traditions. Another favorite tradition of mine is putting out our nativities. I love nativities at Christmas time. When I was a kid my mom had a special nativity set that we put out every year and I have fond memories of unwrapping each piece as we put it out each year. I love all of the different styles and types of nativities, including making some of my own.

Nativity Projects you can make this Christmas

Several years ago I made my first crocheted nativity set, and it was one of my favorite things I ever crocheted. Over time I added a few more pieces and also made a couple different variations. I also included in this list a couple of nativity themed Cricut projects.

1- Crocheted Nativity

I thought I would start with my first crocheted nativity. I made the original set, that included Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, 2 shepherds, a donkey, a sheep, and a star, as an entry into a contest I was participating in, it was the final project and it won! Later I added additional patterns for the 3 wisemen and an angel. Each of the standing figures in this set are about 7.5" tall.

2- Mini Nativity

After I made my original nativity set I decided I wanted to try to make a mini version. My thought with this was that it would be similar in size to a Little People nativity, a set that kids could touch and play with, a good size for little hands in a soft, unbreakable form. I originally just made Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus, but later added a little stable that they could stand under. The Joseph in this set is about 4" tall, so just over half the size of the original set.

3- Little Nativity Mini Amigurumi Set

The last crochet nativity on this list is the most recent. Last year my Christmas Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along was a Little Nativity theme. These little figures are pretty much the same size as the Mini Nativity set, about 4" tall, but the style is a little bit different. This set includes 12 figures- 8 people and 4 animals. The figures include Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, a Shepherd, 3 Wisemen, an Angel, a donkey, a sheep, a cow, and a camel.

4- Oh Holy Night Sign

The next 2 projects are nativity themed Cricut projects. First up we have this simple Oh Holy Night sign. This was a super simple project to make. I started with a blank sign that already had the white background and wood frame, then cut the design out of vinyl using my Cricut, adhered it to the sign, and the project was done. I love how easy it was to make, the simplicity of it and the message.

5- Nativity Countdown to Christmas

Last I have another Cricut project, this one is a Countdown to Christmas Chalkboard. It has a simple nativity silhouette with a space in the stars to put the number of days until Christmas. This was another super simple and quick project to make.

I hope you enjoyed this week's Friday Five, these nativities are some of my favorite projects. I think my original nativity was one of my all time favorite projects ever, but now the Mini Amigurumi Little Nativity might have taken that spot. Be sure to check back next week for another Friday Five. Next week will be more Christmas projects, but with a new Christmas theme.
