5 Little Monsters: Crocheted Robot Softie

Crocheted Robot Softie

Today I am excited to be sharing a new crochet pattern as part of the 2020 Softie Crochet Along. This is the third year I have participated in this particular crochet along (my previous projects were a dinosaur and a flamingo), and I always look forward to it because softies are one of my favorite things to crochet.

Starting a couple of weeks ago different crochet designers will be sharing different crocheted softie patterns on their blogs for free, for a total of 10 weeks (I am week 3). Find all of the information HERE and follow along each week. You can also follow in the CAL Central Facebook and Ravelry groups. At the end of the 10 week there will even be a drawing for some prizes.

When I was trying to decided what to make for the crochet along I started thinking of animals, because stuffed animals are kind of my go to softies, although I have done some dolls and mermaids and stuff like that. But as I was trying to decide I thought of my 3 year old who has been on a robot kick lately and thought maybe a robot would be kind of fun.

It is a little different than the stuffed animals I usually make because rather than working with round shapes for the heads and bodies the robot is made with mostly squares and rectangles. This means the construction process is a little different as well. The cool thing about crochet is that it is easy to make all of the different shapes you need.

This cute little guy has a square head and body, with striped arms and legs. A little screen on his belly is the perfect place to add some personalization. I just stitched on some zigzags and dotted lines like "writing" on the screen, but you could add a little heart instead, or actual words, it's up to you.
