5 Little Monsters: Quilted Hexagon Potholder

Quilted Hexagon Potholder

When you buy a Cricut Maker there are 50 free projects available in design space. They include everything from sewing and fabric projects to paper, vinyl and leather projects. Today I am joining 49 other bloggers to show you what these 50 projects look like and how they worked for us. I was really excited about the ability to cut fabric on the Maker so I chose to make one of the sewing projects, the Quilted Hexagon Potholder.

I liked the idea of cutting the pieces for a project like this on the Cricut rather than by hand because they are not simple squares and triangles so they would be a little more time consuming to cut out. I chose some fabrics that I got from Cricut but there were only 5 fabrics in the package and you need 6 so I added a scrap of light pink that I had from another project. You only use a little bit of most of the fabrics so I still have a lot left from the package to use in another project. It was really easy to cut out the pieces and put together the project following the instructions in design space.

My potholder did turn out a lot smaller than the project said it would and I'm not sure if that was my fault or the pattern, so I had to trim away a little excess backing and fleece, but overall I was really pleased with how it turned out. It was cool to see all of the pieces get cut out so easily. The project says it takes 1-2 hours but I finished it in a lot less time than that, it was a really quick project.

  2. This is so cute! I was just going through my potholders the other day and threw a bunch out. Now I need to replace them and these would be way cuter than any I could buy in the store!
