Summer time can be a little rough with kids, at least in my house. On days when we aren't doing anything all my kids want to do is sit with a screen in front of their face. We have rules about when they can have technology, things they have to do before they can have it (reading, chores, etc.), time limits, and all of that. But without fail, every single morning, I have at least one kid begging me to let them have technology early. You would think by halfway through summer break they would quit asking, but they have not given up yet.

As a result I am always trying to think of activities they can do that are creative and not necessarily tied to a screen, and sometimes I will share them here. One of the activities that is always a big hit with my kids is Perler Beads. I have shared lots of different Perler Bead Designs over the last couple of years but since it is a favorite kid activity in our house I thought I would share some more.

Every time I get my box of Perler Beads out to make some new designs for my blog I end up with 2 or 3 kids sitting at my work table, sticking their hands in the bucket of beads, and creating their own designs, or sometimes helping me make mine. It is always fun to see the things that they create.

For this set of designs I decided to make a food themed set. I had a hard time deciding exactly which foods to make, and I ended up coming up with 2 sets, one more savory and snack foods, and the other sweet treats. This set that I am sharing today is the savory/snack set and it has 6 designs including a taco, hamburger, hotdog, pizza, French fries, and popcorn.
