I have not posted this week like I had planned, my kids start school in less than 2 weeks and I think then it will be so much easier to get back in a routine of posting regularly. But since I just started the Friday Five series last week I didn't want to miss the second one. So it is time for the second Friday Five and this week the theme I have chosen is...
Book Inspired Amigurimi
1- Amigurumi Elephant
This little elephant was inspired by the book But No Elephants. This cute little picture book is one I remember from when I was a kid and read to my kids when they were little. It was part of my very first Book Inspired Craft Week, in fact it was the first project from the first week.
2- Anne of Green Gables Doll
Anne of Green Gables, actually the whole Anne series, was a favorite of mine when I was a teenager so a few years ago I made this little doll inspired by Anne. Of course she has long braids of red hair under her little hat.
3- Amigurumi Monkey
This little monkey was inspired by the book Summer of the Monkeys and it was part of my 2nd Book Inspired Craft Week. This one was a favorite of my husband's when he was a kid, and I remember my mom reading it aloud to my siblings and I when we were young. The elephant and the monkey could easily be paired with any book that has a monkey or an elephant.
4- Crocheted House Elf
For the 4th book inspired amigurumi I chose this little crocheted house elf inspired by Dobby from the Harry Potter series. I had a couple Harry Potter inspired amigurumi but I think the little house elf is pretty cute and more unique so I chose to include this one.
5- Cuddly Mouse in Overalls
The last pattern I am including in this Friday Five roundup is a Cuddly Mouse inspired by If you Give a Mouse a Cookie. He is wearing little overalls like the mouse in the book and is made with soft and cuddly blanket yarn.
I love making projects inspired by my favorite books, that's why I started an annual series making projects inspired by my favorite books. Making a stuffed animal inspired by a book is extra fun because you can cuddle with it while you read. They would also make a really fun gift, a favorite book and a stuffed animal to go along with it.
Come back next week for a new theme and another 5 projects. Leave a comment if there is a theme you would like to see!
