5 Little Monsters: Crocheted Frog

Crocheted Frog

My oldest daughter loves frogs and one day, after seeing another stuffed animal that I had crocheted, asked me if I would make her a frog. She wanted it similar in size and style to the other stuffed animal but she specifically requested soft, fluffy, green yarn. I didn't have any yarn that fit those requirements so I kind of put it on a mental list of something to look for and make eventually.

Then the other day I was at the dollar store and I saw that they had some green yarn that was exactly what she requested. It was Premier Just Chenille in Mint, and since it part of the "Just Yarn" collection Premier makes to sell at Dollar Tree they come in pretty small skeins, so I grabbed 3 hoping it would be enough and I brought it home and started on her frog.

It worked up pretty fast, that is one of the nice things about using a bulky yarn like this, and ended up taking only about 1 1/2 skeins. I had some large safety eyes on hand that worked perfectly for the frog eyes, and embroidered a mouth with a little bit of pink yarn.

One of my favorite things about making things like this is being able to make things for my kids. Even my 13 year old who has kind of outgrown toys for the most part, but still requests a mom-made stuffed frog to put up on her shelf, and even asks if I can make one for her friend too.

Assembly

Add stuffing into the eyes and stitch onto the top of the head, leaving a little space in between.

Stitch the arms to the side of the body.

Stuff the legs and stitch to the front of the body in a sitting position, placing them sort of towards the sides leaving a big space between them.

Use pink yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver in Baby Pink) to stitch a mouth. Stitch along the space in between 2  rows to give you a nice line to follow.
