It is February 1st, which means it is time for the 2nd Bear of the Month. The Bear of the Month Crochet Along is a year long crochet along that I am doing this year where each month, on the first of the month I will be releasing a new little bear crochet pattern. Each bear will be themed to the month that I am posting it. The January Bear was a little Winter Bear wearing a hat and a scarf. For February I decided it needed to be a Valentines themed bear, so this month's bear is...
The Cupid Bear! I had a few different ideas I was debating between, but the Cupid Bear was the first one I thought of, and the one that I kept coming back to. So I decided that if that was the one I kept going back to it must be that that is the one I needed to choose.
This cute little cupid is wearing a diaper, with wings and a bow and arrow. I had my bear holding the arrow in one hand and the bow in the other, but you could have it hold the bow and arrow together as if shooting it if you want. The arrowhead is a little heart.
The Cupid Bear is made with the same basic pattern as the January Winter Bear. All of the bears will use this base pattern, although there may be some changes (like the pumpkin bear in the Bewitching Bears Crochet Along, which used the same bear pattern, was fatter than the other), so they will all be the the same size.
Like the January Bear you can use any medium/worsted weight yarn for your bear, this time I endued up using all different colors of Red Heart Super Saver. I wanted to make a brown bear this time so I chose Cafe Latte for the bear with Buff for the muzzle and the shaft of the arrow. Then I used White for the diaper and wings as well as the bow string, Saffron for the bow, and 2 shades of pink, Baby Pink and Shocking Pink, for the arrowhead and fletching.
Be sure to check back next month, on March 1st, to see what the next Bear of the Month will be.
