5 Little Monsters: Gingerbread Man- Mini Amigurumi Advent Day 18

Gingerbread Man- Mini Amigurumi Advent Day 18

Today marks three quarters of the way through the Mini Amigurumi Advent with Day 18. Today's pattern is a sweet little gingerbread man.

The little gingerbread man is about inches tall and is made similar to the other projects, but the leg construction on this one is a little bit different. Instead of sewing the legs onto the body at the end, the legs are made first and then the body is worked as a continuation of the legs. The arms are made separately and sewn on.

I always kind of struggle with making crocheted gingerbread men, specifically stuffed ones, because actual gingerbread men are flat and decorated on top. Translating that to a 3D shape is hard for me, trying to figure out how to decorate it in a way that makes sense for the shape is tricky, especially for the face and head. I looked around online for some inspiration and I found a lot of crocheted gingerbread men had a little frosting cap on their heads, to add some decoration to the head. I decided to use that idea on my little gingerbread man, but you can definitely leave that off if you want.

I also added a little bow tie. I wanted to add little buttons but I wanted to add crocheted decorations and I couldn't make any small enough for the tiny body. But you could definitely sew real buttons on the belly as an alternative.

I guess the point is, just like decorating actual cookies, you can decorate it however you want. Add the little frosting cap, or leave it off. Crochet a bow tie, tie a bow out of ribbon, or don't add a bow of any kind. Sew little buttons on his tummy if you want. You can decorate him in any way you like.
