My Mini Amigurumi Crochet Alongs are some of my favorite projects that I do throughout the year, but this year I have struggled to get them planned the way I had hoped. I did my last crochet along in the spring and had plans to do another in the summer and fall but the spring crochet along hit at an incredibly busy time for me with family stuff and by the time I finished I was feeling very stressed out and burnt out. I kind of just stopped posting all together. We had a lot going on with our kids and life was feeling so busy and overwhelming and I just kind of stepped away from my blog a little bit. I had ideas I was really excited about for a summer and fall crochet along, but I found that although taking a break was easy and kind of happened unintentionally without a lot of thought, starting back up and getting back on track is a lot of work and has to be a lot more intentional. I couldn't quite get things together enough to get those crochet alongs going like I planned, and I was kind of sad about it because I had some fun ideas and I really do love them. I eventually consigned myself to the fact that I just had to wait until Christmas, but then as I was working on some fall/halloween ideas so share this month I decided to throw together a little crochet along after all. It is just going to be a little bit smaller and a little bit different than past crochet alongs this time around.
So first let's talk about what is going to be a little different this time around and then we will get a little bit more into the theme, why I chose it, and what you can expect. My crochet alongs are typically "mini" amigurumi crochet alongs and I have made them all pretty similar in size, many of them even using the same or very similar body patterns. For my crochet alongs the mini size has meant about 3"-5". This time around the amigurumi will be just a little bit larger, not a lot but definitely a little bigger more like 6"-7". That is why I called it a "Little Amigurumi Crochet Along" instead of "mini".
The second big change between this and previous crochet alongs is the number of patterns that will be included and the length of time. Typically my crochet alongs have lasted 2 weeks or 12 days, and included 12 patterns. This one will be half as long, with half the number of patterns. It will start next Monday, October 20th, and running through Saturday the 25th. I know this is super close to Halloween so there isn't a lot of time to make the patterns before Halloween gets here, which is the reason I almost just skipped the fall crochet along, but then I had this idea and decided to throw it on the calendar last minute. If there isn't time to make them for Halloween this year you can always save it for next year, as the patterns will remain permanently on my blog after the crochet along is done.
All of the Crochet Along Details:
When- The 2025 Fall Little Amigurumi Crochet Along will begin on Monday, October 20. It will run through that week, ending on Saturday, October 25. One pattern will be released each day that week from Monday-Saturday.
How Does it Work- A new pattern will be released each day of the crochet along for a little Halloween Bear amigurumi. The pattern will be posted for free on my blog, where it will remain indefinitely, this means that you can join or start up at any time, even after the crochet along is over. I will post the link to the new pattern each day on social media, as well as at the end of this post (this will be sort of a landing page for the crochet along). Once all 6 patterns have been posted I will release an ebook that will be available for purchase on Etsy and Ravelry that will include all 6 patterns. This is a great option for anyone who wants an ad-free, printable, PDF version of the patterns with all 6 in one place, but they will still remain free on my blog on their individual posts.
What do you need- Now let's talk supplies. The main thing you will need for the crochet along is yarn, obviously. This crochet along will include 6 Halloween Bears so plan on a lot of browns or whatever color you want for your bears, as well as black, white, orange, green, yellow, etc. I always use worsted weight acrylic yarn for my crochet along amigurumi. In addition to the yarn you will need your usual crochet supplies like a hook and needle. I also use safety eyes and noses for my little bears, but that is optional and you can embroider the eyes if you prefer. See the full list of supplies below.
You will need:
- worsted weight acrylic yarn in a variety of colors, Like I said above, these will be bears and Halloween so plan on some browns, tans, black, white, orange, green, yellow, etc. For this crochet along I am using Loops & Threads Impeccable, and Red Heart Super Saver, but other yarns that could be used include Big Twist Value Worsted, Lion Brand Basic Stitch, Loops & Threads Soft Classic, or any other similar worsted weight yarn
- G crochet hook (4/4.25 mm)
- 8 mm safety eyes (if you don't want to use safety eyes you can embroider them instead)
- 11 mm safety noses (you can also embroider these if desired
- stuffing
- embroidery floss and needle (I mainly use black, with a little bit of white)
- yarn needle
- stitch markers
