It is Day 2 of the Bewitching Bears Crochet Along and for day 2 I decided to make a smaller version of the original bear that inspired this whole crochet along. Today's little bear is a Little Pumpkin Bear.
I made this little pumpkin bear almost the same as the original pumpkin bear, just a smaller version. It has a big, round, orange pumpkin belly with a little pumpkin top for a hat with a tiny stem and vine. The original bear was about 7.5" tall, the smaller version is about 6" tall.
The Little Pumpkin Bear joins the Little Witch Bear and I mentioned in the witch bear post that the little bears would pretty much all have the same body, but this bear is one of the exceptions. The pumpkin belly is made larger and rounder that the regular bear body so that part of the pattern is a little different. There are extra increases in the body to give it its round shape. The rest of the pieces- arms, legs, ears, etc. are made in the same way as the witch, and the other bears in the series. There are a couple patterns that have some changes to the body to create the bear's shape, this being the first.
Like with the previous bear the Little Pumpkin Bear is made with medium/worsted weight yarn. I used a mostly Red Heart Super Saver for this one, with a little bit of Loops & Threads Impeccable. I am using whatever I have on hand in the colors I need for these little bears, since they don't take much yarn and are a great stash buster project.
Check back tomorrow to see what Bewitching Bear Day 3 will bring!
