It is Day 3 of the Bewitching Bears Crochet Along and since this crochet along is only 6 days long that means we are already halfway done! Today's little bear is a very simple one, a Little Candy Corn Bear.

Most of the bears have different accessories or pieces added or even changes to the base pattern in order to turn them from just a plain little into a Halloween bear, but this one is super simple. The thing that makes it a Halloween bear vs. just a plain bear is just the color changes.

It is divided into 3 colors, yellow, orange, and white, just like a candy corn. The head and the pieces attached to the head, the ears and muzzle, are white. Then the middle part of the body is orange along with the arms that are attached to that section, and the bottom half of the body and the legs are yellow. You could also switch the white and yellow if you wanted your candy corn colors to go the opposite way.

When I had the idea for this bear I was a little bit worried it would be too simple, but one of the things that I enjoy about things like these crochet alongs is how you can take a basic pattern- like the base of these bear patterns, and then make little changes to make it look completely different. Sometimes that is a adjustment to the body shape, like with the pumpkin bear, other times it is adding a hat or other accessory, like with the witch, switching up the ears/legs/tails/noses to make different animals, and sometimes, like with this little bear, it is just switching up the colors for a new design.

The finished bear sits about 6" tall sitting. Like the others it is made with medium/worsted weight yarn. Any yellow, orange, and white yarn would work. I used Red Heart Super Saver for the white and orange, and Loops & Threads Soft Classic for the yellow.

Come back tomorrow to see what Day 3's Bewitching Bear will be!
