Today is Day 1 of the Bewitching Bears Crochet Along! I shared all of the details of the crochet along in a previous post, and I will update that post each day with the links to each new bear. But as a quick reminder of how the crochet along will work there will be a new pattern each day from today(10/20/25) through Saturday (10/25/25) for a total of 6 patterns. Each one will be a little Halloween Bear. The day 1 bear is a Little Witch Bear.
This whole idea started because a few years ago I made a pumpkin bear and as I was thinking of projects to make for Halloween this year I had the idea to make a witch bear to go along with the pumpkin bear. Then I started thinking of other Halloween bears I could make and I decided that instead of making one larger bear I would turn the idea into a crochet along and make several smaller bears. Since the idea of making a witch bear was the thing that started the whole idea I decided to have that be bear number one.
The bears in this series will be a little bit bigger than the previous mini amigurumi in the crochet alongs I have done in the past. They all start with the same base pattern, though some will have little changes to create the design of that bear, as well as different accessories.
The Little Witch Bear is just the basic bear, I made it in a light brown color, but it is wearing a pointy black hat. I added a purple band around the hat to give a little pop of color. I think purple, green, or orange would all work well for the hat band, or you could do gray if you don't want to add the color to it. I debated whether or not to have the witch bear wearing a little dress and ultimately decided to stick with just the hat, but once it was done I felt like I wanted to add something more, so I gave her a little broom to hold in her hand.
The finished bear sits about 7" tall to the tip of the hat, probably closer to about 6" to the top of the head. It is made with medium/worsted weight yarn, I used a combination of Red Heart Super Saver and Loops & Threads Impeccable because that is what I had on hand and these little bears take a small enough amount of yarn that they are great for using up your stash.
Be sure to come back tomorrow to see what Day 2's Bewitching Bear will be!
