It is Day 3 of the Spring 2025 Little Safari Mini Amigururmi Crochet Along. For the third animal in the Little Safari series we have a Little Crocodile.

The crocodile that is found on the African Savanna is the Nile Crocodile and they are a commonly seen animal in areas where there is water. It is definitely one of the animals that comes to mind when I think of animals that live in the savanna so it was one that I for sure wanted to include in this series.

To be honest, the crocodile was one of the animals that I was kind of nervous about making once I decided that I was going to go with the teddy bear style sitting animals, just because I knew it would be a little difficult to turn the long, flat body of a crocodile into one that was sitting upright. But hopefully I was successful in what I came up with.

To begin with I just made the body that was just like the other animals in this series, the long nose and tail, and the for little legs, but I felt like it needed something more. I decided to add some bumps to the back of the bumpy, armor-like texture of the crocodiles back. I chose to make them in a contrasting color, though I think they would also work well in the same color as the rest of the crocodile. Then I also added a lighter colored underbelly to the front of the Little Croc.

I used the same Loops and Threads Impeccable yarn that I have used for the other two animals, and that I will use for all of the animals in this mini amigurumi series. This time using two shades of green- a darker green for the majority of the crocodile, Deep Forest, and a light green for the belly and back, Forest. I also used safety eyes for the crocodiles eyes, they can be embroidered if you prefer, and then I finished it up by adding teeth by using white embroidery floss to stitch a zigzag all the way around the mouth.

Be sure to come back tomorrow to see what little safari animal will be on Day number 4!
