Today is Day 2 of the Spring 2025 Little Safari Mini Amigururmi Crochet Along. Our second little safari animal is the largest animal on the savanna, although this one is pretty tiny in size- the Little Elephant.

I think if you asked anyone to name the first African safari animal that comes to mind Elephants would probably be near the top of the list for many people. The African Bush Elephant is the biggest land animal in the world so it kind of stands out, which means it obviously had to be included in this series.

Just like the lion from yesterday, the elephant is made in a sitting position like a teddy bear. It sits about 3.5" tall. It uses the exact same body style as the lion, but with different legs, much bigger ears, and obviously a long trunk and tusks.

An African elephant's ears are actually kind of pointed, but this little elephant has big round ears. The legs are a little thicker than the lions legs and they have little toes embroidered on the feet. The tiny tusks stick out on either side of the trunk.

Like I mentioned in my last post, I chose to use Loops and Threads Impeccable for all of the animals in this mini amigurumi series. but similar medium/worsted weight acrylic yarn will work as well. The Little Elephant uses only two colors- gray and white/cream, I chose to use a cream color because I felt like the white was a little harsh. I also used safety eyes for the elephants eyes, though you can choose to embroider them if desired.

Check back tomorrow to see what Little Safari Animal will show up on Day 3!
