We have made it to Day 10 of the Spring 2025 Little Safari Mini Amigururmi Crochet Along, only a couple more days to go. Today's little animal is one that is probably one of the first animals people think of when they think of the African savanna, a Little Zebra.
The zebra was obviously going to make the list for the Little Safari. I just feel like you can't have anything safari themed without including a zebra.
I tried a couple of different options for the zebra stripes and ended up deciding to do every other row stripes. Another option you could try is a variegated black and white yarn. I think I wanted a little more control over my stripe pattern than that would give you, plus the brand of yarn I was using didn't have that as an option. But if you want more randomness in your stripes you could give that option a try.
The zebra body is made just like the others, with the only difference being the alternating stripes. The end of the nose is solid black but then it has stripes as it gets closer to the face.
Because of the way that I was adding the stripes the ears, tail, and mane are solid colored, not striped. I made my ears and tail solid white, with a black tuft on the end of the tail, and the mane solid black, but you could use either color for those pieces.
Be sure to check back tomorrow to see what little safari animal is next. Only 2 more to go!

You can embroider nostrils if you want, but I chose not to since the nose is black and you wouldn't really be able to see if you use black thread, which is what I typically use
Add a little bit of stuffing inside the nose piece and sew to the head just below the eyes
Mane

ch 15
Row 1: 1 hdc in 3rd ch from the hook and each ch to the end (15 hdc)

Sew the mane down the center top/back of head so that the stitches are standing upright
Ears
Make 2 with white, beginning with a ch
ch 3
sl st in the ch closest to the hook, sc in the next 2 ch (1 sl st, 2 sc)
Finish off and cut yarn, leaving long tail for sewing
Stitch the ears to the head
Legs
Make 4 starting with black and switching to stripes where indicated, beginning with magic ring
Round 1: in mr, ch 1, 6 sc (6 sc)
Round 2: 1 sc in blo of each st (6 sc)
switch to white
Round 3: 1 sc in each st (6 sc)
switch to black
Round 4: 1 sc in each st (6 sc)
switch to white
Round 5: 1 sc in each st (6 sc)

Tail
Make 1 with white, beginning with chain
ch 6
sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook, and each ch to the end (5 sc)
Finish off and cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing
Cut 2 small lengths of black yarn (4-6") fold in half and pull the folded end through the end of the tail and then pull the ends through that loop and pull to make a tuft on the end of the tail
Sew to the bottom of the back side of the body
