There are only a couple of days left in the Summer Cookout Mini Amigururmi Crochet Along, today is Day 10 and for today I made a Little Pickle to go along with the other foods and drinks that we have so far.

I wasn't sure if I was going to include a pickle or not, and if I did what form it would be. I feel like pickles come into play in a few different forms in summer get togethers. There is pickle relish on hot dogs, pickle slices on burgers, pickles chopped up in potato salads, whole pickles to snack on, etc. So I decided to just make a pickle in its normal pickle form.

All of the food and drinks in this set are pretty quick and easy to make, but this might be the quickest one to make. It is just one piece, a little tube, but with little bobble stitches scattered around to make the little bumps and slip stitches in some rounds to make it bend a little bit.

Just like on all of my other mini amigurumi it also has a cute little face with safety eyes and an embroidered smile, but you could embroider the whole face if you prefer. Or you could leave it off, but I think the faces make them extra cute.

I chose a dark green color for my pickle, but you could use any shade of green that you want. I think an olive green would be good, or you could use a brighter green too.

Come back tomorrow to see what Day 11 will bring to the Summer Cookout!

How to Crochet a Little Pickle

Finished Size: about 3.5" tall

You will need:

Instructions:

The pickle is made in 1 piece. Bobble stitches are used to make the bumps on the pickle (see below for how to make bobbles), normally bobbles naturally push in to the back but as you make the bobble (or the single crochet after) you can push it forward to pop out the front to make the bumpy pickle texture. Slip stitches give the pickle a slightly bent shape.

Bobble Stitch: yo, insert hook in stitch, pull up loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, insert in same st, pull up loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook
