Today is Day 7 of the Summer Cookout Mini Amigururmi Crochet Along, the start of the second half of the crochet along. For today's mini amigurumi I wanted to make another dessert, and I thought I knew what I was going to make up until I was ready to start, and then I decided it just wasn't quite the right fit. I started thinking about what a good summer dessert would be and I decided on another cold, icy treat, just in a little bit different shape than the popsicle from earlier in the crochet along, today we are adding a Tiny Snow Cone.

A snow cone may not necessarily be the most common dessert to have at a backyard barbecue it does feel like a very summery treat to me. I remember as a kid both making snow cones at home with our Snoopy Snow Cone Maker, and walking to the park to buy them from the little snow cone shack by the city pool. I think it is a very nostalgic summer treat for me, so I thought it would be a fun addition to the summery set.

I chose to make the cup or container for my little snow cone the classic cone shape. I made it in white because again, that just seemed like the classic that I remember from when I was a kid.

For the actual icy part I made 2 different options. I started off with a blue snow cone, because that was always my favorite flavor, plus we don't have any blue yet so it was a way to add in a new color. But I also wanted to do a multicolor version, so I made a three flavor option with blue, pink, and yellow. The stripes are not perfect but they aren't really perfect on a snow cone either so I guess it is okay.

I used Red Heart Super Saver for all of the colors. For some previous crochet alongs I purchased a couple Red Heart Super Saver Craft Kits that have a bunch of tiny skeins in different colors, and those have come in handy for these projects because it gave me a large variety of colors, but in small amounts which is all I need for my mini amigurumi projects. For the cone I used Soft White, for the ice I used Turqua, Bright Yellow, and Pretty N' Pink.

Be sure to come back tomorrow to see what Day 8 will bring to the Summer Cookout!
