Today is Day 9 of the Spring 2026 Little Amazon Mini Amigururmi Crochet Along, and today we have the 3rd and final bird that will be in this set. The last bird in the Little Amazon is a Little Harpy Eagle.

As soon as I decided I would be doing an Amazon Rainforest theme I knew I wanted to include a Harpy Eagle in the set. I remember when I was in elementary school going on a field trip to a Bird of Prey center in Boise, Idaho. They had a Harpy Eagle there, and I remember thinking it was a pretty cool bird, kind of funny looking and huge. So when I was thinking of animals to include that was one that I immediately thought of and wanted to include.

The Little Harpy Eagle has a gray head with feathers that kind of stick up around its head. It has a white body on the front, with a black back. I added stripes of gray to the end of the tail. It also has a black hooked beak and yellow feet.

Because the front was white and the back was black I was a little unsure how to do that and I ended up deciding to make the body white, then make a tail that extends up to cover the back. I think it worked well to give the coloration I was hoping for.

I used 4 colors for my Little Harpy Eagle, 3 for the eagle plus the yellow for the feet. I used Red Heart Super Saver in White for the body, and Charcoal for the black parts- the tail, back, wings, and beak, and I used Saffron for the yellow feet. The light gray color that I used for the head, head feathers, and stripes on the tail was Big Twist Value in Soft Grey.

Day 9 means that we are three-quarters of the way done, only 3 more animals to go. Chack back tomorrow to see what Day 10's Little Amazon Animal will be!
