It is to announce the Spring 2026 Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along. Last year I realized that all of my spring crochet alongs up to that point had been animal themed, Farm Animals, then Pond Pals, so I decided that I would continue to stick with the animal theme for my spring crochet alongs and each year choose a new animal theme. Last year I continued the animal theme with the Little Safari CAL filled with mini crocheted animals from the African Savanna, and this year I am once again choosing animals from a specific place and habitat, introducing the Spring 2026 Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along theme...

I am really excited about this theme. I loved doing the Safari theme last year. I felt like it challenged me to make some animals that were a little less common and a little more unique. It made me excited to do some more similar sets of animals but from different parts of the world and different habitats. I have a list of different sets that I want to do, but rainforest animals, and specifically Amazon Rainforest Animals is the next one on the list.
When I made the safari animals last year I went back and forth for a long time on what style to make my animals. A "teddy bear" style where they are sitting like a teddy bear with little arms and legs, or a more accurate style with animals that walk on all fours in that position. I obviously decided to go with the teddy bear style for the safari animals, the same as the farm animals I did a few years ago. They all use my basic mini animal body, using different colors and different arms/wings, legs/feet, ears, tails, noses/beaks, etc. to turn that basic body shape into the different animals. The Pond Pals set was a little different. It was a mix of a few animals that used that basic body style, and others that were made differently because there are some animals that are hard to make in that sitting position, things like insects or fish. This crochet along will mostly the same "teddy bear" style as the safari and farm animals, but similar to the pond pals there may be one or two that are made in a different shape. Since this is a mini amigurumi crochet along, as usual all of the animals will be small- between about 3"-4" regardless of body style.
So now for the crochet along details:
When- The 2026 Spring Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along will begin on Monday, April 6. It will run for 2 weeks, ending on April 18. One pattern will be released each day from Monday-Saturday, with no new pattern on Sunday.
How Does it Work- A new pattern will be released each day of the crochet along for a Mini Amigurumi that fits the theme (in this case Amazon Rainforest animals). The pattern will be posted for free on my blog, where it will remain indefinitely, this means that you can join or start up at any time, even after the crochet along is over. I will post the link to the new pattern each day on social media, as well as at the end of this post (this will be sort of a landing page for the crochet along). Once all 12 patterns have been posted I will release an ebook that will be available for purchase on Etsy and Ravelry that will include all 12 patterns. This is a great option for anyone who wants an ad-free, printable, PDF version of the patterns with all 12 in one place, but they will still remain free on my blog on their individual posts.
There is no need to join anything like there is with some crochet alongs, just follow along on social media, sign up for my newsletter, or simply check back on this post each day during the crochet along to see what the new pattern release is for that day.
What do you need- Now let's talk supplies. The main thing you will need for the crochet along is yarn, obviously. This crochet along will include 12 Amazon Rainforest animals so plan on a lot of neutral colors, lots of shades of brown and tan, some grey, black, etc., as well as some brighter colors, like reds, blues, greens, and yellows. I always use worsted weight acrylic yarn for my mini amigurumi. They don't take a lot of yarn so these mini amigurumi are great for using up yarn in your stash. In addition to the yarn you will need your usual crochet supplies like a hook and needle. I also use safety eyes for my little animals, but that is optional and you can embroider the eyes if you prefer. See the full list of supplies below.
You will need:
- worsted weight acrylic yarn in a variety of colors, Like I said above, these will be animals you would see on in the rainforest so plan on some browns, tans, grays, black, white, green, yellow, red, etc. For this crochet along I am using a variety of brands because I am trying to use up yarns that I have, things like Loops & Threads Impeccable, Red Heart Super Saver, Big Twist Value Worsted, Lion Brand Basic Stitch, or any other similar worsted weight yarn will work great
- G crochet hook (4/4.25 mm)
- 6 mm safety eyes (if you don't want to use safety eyes you can embroider them instead)
- stuffing
- embroidery floss and needle (I mainly use black, but you may also use other colors like pink or red for mouths if you prefer)
- yarn needle
- stitch markers
