Today is the last day of the Spring 2026 Little Amazon Mini Amigururmi Crochet Along, Day 12. Today we have a mini version of another of the giants of the Amazon, a Little Anaconda.

Just like with the dolphin, the anaconda was not an animal that I could make using the same body style as the others, so it is made completely different than the rest of the animals in the set. Even though the pattern is different I tried to make it in a size that kind of matched up with the rest of the set, so it wasn't way tinier than the others, or super big compared to the rest. In the end it is about twice as long as the other animals are tall, but it is also skinnier, so if you were to fold it in half it would be approximately the same size.

I had a snake in my Mini Amigurumi Camping Crochet Along from a few years ago and I made this one the same way, but I made it a little bit bigger. This one isn't supposed to represent a little snake you might find out in the woods while hiking, it is one the largest, if not the largest snakes in the world. Green Anacondas can weigh up to 550 pounds and be up to 30 feet long. Not something I have any desire to see if I'm being honest. Although I don't really want to run into snakes of any size so maybe I am not the best judge of that.

I looked at lots of pictures when deciding on colors and I thought that the green anaconda's body was an olive green color with darker green spots so I started making one like that, using the same olive green that I did on the iguana. You really couldn't see the spots at all, so I decided to make it a lighter green just so the spots would show up better. Then after the anaconda was finished I read what colors they actually are and the bodies are an olive green with black spots. So if I were to do it over again I would use the olive green yarn but replace the dark green with black for the spots. Also, they have larger spots down the center of their backs and smaller spots to the side and I tried to mimic that a little bit with my spots, making larger ones more in the center and smaller ones to the side, but they kind of just ended up as random spots. The side spots are supposed to be a little bit more of a yellow or tan color but I didn't want to change colors that many times so I just kept two colors. The under belly should also technically be a lighter color or yellow color but again, I didn't want to change colors that many times, not to mention it would have been tricky because of the way crocheting in the round twists. So I made a green snake, with darker green patches along its back, is it a perfect representation of a Green Anaconda, maybe not, but I think it works well enough.

For my Anaconda I used Big Twist Value in Sage for the body color, and Red Heart Super Saver in Medium Thyme for the spots. I think Big Twist Value in Olive Drab combined with a charcoal gray or black for the spots would also work well and be a little more accurate. I also added a couple of pipe cleaners twisted together into my anaconda to be able to bend and twist it into different shapes.

And that's a wrap! The Little Amazon Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along has come to an end. I hope you have enjoyed these little animals as much as I have. Stay tuned for the release of the ebook with all 12 patterns. The individual patterns will remain free on my blog, but the ebook is a great option for anyone who wants them all in one place, or a printable/PDF version. I will add the link here when it is available.

How to Crochet a Little Anaconda

Finished Size: about 8" long

You will need:

Instructions:

The anaconda is made in one piece beginning at the head. Because of the spotting down the back you will need to pay attention to where you put the eyes so follow the placement directions so they end up in the right orientation. You will insert the pipe cleaner/chenille stem into the head toward the beginning and work around it as you go. I folded each end in 1-2" so that there would be no pointy end and also left a little bit of a loop shape at the head so it would stay in place. You will want to add stuffing as you go, but just a little bit around the chenille stems, just enough to give it shape but you want it to still be flexible and easy to bend into the shape you want. If you want to make your snake longer just continue the rounds of 9 single crochet until you reach the length you want (you may need to attach an additional chenille stem to get the additional length, and continue adding spots as desired)

Body

Make 1 starting with green, beginning with magic ring

Prep your chenille stems by twisting 2 together, then folding one end down and making a small loop at the top (that will fit inside the head), then folding in the other end and twisting together to measure about 7.5"

Round 1: in mr, ch 1, 6 sc (6 sc)
Round 2: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st] repeat around (9 sc)
Round 3: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 2 sts] repeat around (12 sc)
Round 4: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 3 sts] repeat around (15 sc)
Round 5-6: 1 sc in each st (15 sc)

Place the head so that the hook with the working loop is at the center back and insert safety eyes between rounds 4-5 about 5 stitches apart so that they are on the top of the head almost on each side (see picture below for placement)

Insert the looped end of the chenille stem in the head with a little bit of stuffing, continue working around the chenille stem as you make the body and add a little bit of stuffing as you go.

Round 7: [sc2tog, sc in next 3 sts] repeat around (12 sc)
Round 8: [sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts] repeat around (9 sc)
Rounds 9-10: 1 sc in each st (9 sc)

In the following rounds you will add spots to simplify the pattern I will just say color and number of stitches, work one stitch in each stitch of the previous round (light: main color, dark: spot color)
