Today is the start of the first Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along of 2026- The Bitty Blizzard Crochet Along. This mini amigurumi crochet along is going to be full of things related to winter, snow, and all things cold weather. So of course one of the things that needed to be included was snowmen, in fact there will be a few different snowmen throughout the course of the crochet along. We are starting off Day 1 with one of those little Snowmen- Little Snowman with a Beanie.
The number one difference between the different snowmen that will be part of this crochet along is going to be what they are wearing, especially on their heads, this first little snowman is wearing a beanie and a scarf. I wasn't really sure what to call it since it won't be the only snowman, so I just added the type of hat to the name.
I made a little snowman in my first mini amigurumi crochet along that I ever did that was a Christmas advent, but I changed up the pattern for this one just a little bit. It is constructed in the same way but made a little bit larger and I added little stick arms instead of snow arms like on the original. As I mentioned there will be a few different snowmen with different types of hats, and for this first one I decided on a little beanie.
You will need white yarn for the snowman, and brown yarn for the stick arms. For the hat and scarf you can use any color that you want. When I made my dinosaur crochet along I used a Red Heart Super Saver Craft Kit that comes with several mini skeins of yarn all in pastel colors. When I was planning this crochet along and taking pictures for the announcement I ended up getting one of the kits in the brights color way to use for the pictures because it had white and a few blue and purple shades that gave kind of the cold, wintery vibe I wanted and the mini skeins worked well for pictures.
Unlike the dinosaur crochet along where I only used the colors in the craft kit, this time I knew I might use some of the colors in the kit, but would need to include others as well. It didn't have all of the colors I would need, like a brown for the stick arms, or an orange for the nose (the orange in the kit was very bright neon orange, not carrot colored). One of the colors in the kit was a neon variegated yarn. When I first saw it I thought I would never use that yarn for anything, but then when I was making this snowman I thought it would be kind of fun to use that crazy bright yarn for the hat, and pair it with the bright pink yarn that was also in the kit. I thought it turned out pretty cute, even if it wasn't my normal go-to color choice. Because the yarn was so crazy I ended up using solid pink for the ribbing section along the bottom of the hat. You can make it all in one color, or switch colors for the ribbing like I did. Since the ribbing section is so small I didn't want to use the techniques I usually use to make ribbing so instead I just used spike stitches worked into the same stitches as the previous round to give a textured faux ribbed effect.
I hope you enjoy this Little Snowman for Day 1 of the Bitty Blizzard Crochet Along. Come back tomorrow to see the pattern for Day 2!
How to Crochet a Little Snowman with a Beanie
Finished size: about 5" tall
You will need:
- medium weight yarn in white, brown, orange, and any colors you want for scarf and hat (Sample made with Red Heart Super Saver in White, Cafe Latte, Pumpkin, Day Glow, and Pretty N Pink)
- G Crochet Hook (4.25 mm)
- 2- 6mm safety eyes
- fiberfill
- yarn needle
- black embroidery floss and needle
Instructions:
The body and head are made in one piece, the other pieces are made separately and sew on. Most pieces are made beginning with a magic ring (mr), the beginning of each piece will indicate if it starts with a magic ring or a chain. The faux ribbing on the hat is made by alternating regular single crochet stitches and spike single crochet stitches. To work the spike stitch insert the hook into the stitch one row below where you would normally work (instead of working into the top of the stitch, insert your hook into the same place that stitch is worked).

Hi, the count on row 15 says 24 stitches, rows 16-19 say 18!
ReplyDeleteIt should be fixed now.
DeleteLove this ... almost finished. In row 8 to 9 of the hat it goes from 24 to 30 stitches. I am not sure whether to add increases or not?
ReplyDeleteNo, that was a typo. It should have said 24 just like the other rounds. It should be fixed now.
DeleteSo adorable! Thank you sharing your talent with us!
