It is Day 5 of The Bitty Blizzard Crochet Along and for today's pattern I decided to make a mini version of the January Bear that I recently released as part of my Bear of the Month Crochet Along. So for today we have the Petite Polar Bear.

I had a polar bear on the list of ideas for this crochet along, because I felt like it fit pretty well with the winter/snow theme, but I was just imagining a little white bear, nothing else. Then as I was planning this crochet along I decided that I also wanted to do the year long Bear of the Month Crochet Along and decided on the design for my January Bear- a little winter bear wearing a hat and scarf, and decided it would be fun to add a little hat and scarf to my mini polar bear and make it a mini version of the January Winter Bear.

For this little bear I obviously used white yarn since I was making a polar bear, then just like the larger version I added a little winter hat with a pompom on top, and a scarf tied around its neck. For the January bear I used Soft White so it is a little bit more of a cream color, probably more accurate for a polar bear, but I wanted to keep the bright white for the mini bear to match with the rest of the Bitty Blizzard series.

I used the same white yarn for the polar bear as I have used in the other patterns in this series, Red Heart Super Saver in White. Then for the accessories you can use any color you want. I ended up going with 2 shades of purple, a darker color (Red Heart Super Saver in Amethyst) for the hat, and a lighter color (Red Heart Super Saver in Light Jasmine) for the pompom and scarf.

5 days down, 7 more to go. Come back tomorrow to see what Day 6 will be.

  1. Please double check the stitch counts on rds 4-6 of the legs. Rd 4 has 6 stitches, rds 5-6 says we should have 12 but you say to put 1 single crochet in each. That seems like it should be 6 stitches.
