We are on Day 8 of The Bitty Blizzard Crochet Along, which means there are only 4 days left. For today's mini amigurumi I decided to make a Small Snow Globe.
A snow globe has actually been on my idea list for a while. It was one of the options I had come up with for my very first Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along, the Mini Amigurumi Advent. I had several ideas for things I could make and then picked 24 from the list and the snow globe didn't make the cut. So it was kind of fun to finally make it.
The snow globe is made in 2 pieces, the base and the ball or globe portion. The base could be made in any color. I chose brown but you could do any color you want. After putting the snow globe with the other amigurumi in the set I kind of wished I had done a bright, fun color instead of brown to better match the vibe of the rest of the set. But the brown works too.
For the globe part of the snow globe I started out with white to look like the fallen snow. Then for the rest I used light blue, but I carried the white yarn around adding a white stitch every few stitches to look like falling snow. I think it would be cute to add embroidery around the globe to make other designs, more snowflakes, little trees, etc., but I decided to keep it simple for this project and leave it to just the snow worked into the crochet.
The only other addition to the snow globe was the little smiley face that I add to all of my mini amigurumi. I use safety eyes and embroidery floss for the smile, but you can embroider the whole face if you prefer, just like with any of them.
We are 2/3 of the way done, 8 days down, 4 more to go. What mini amigurumi will day 9 bring?
