We are on Day 3 of The Bitty Blizzard Crochet Along. Today's mini amigurumi is a super simple one, it is a Small Snowball.

I really debated whether or not to include the snowball in this set. I wanted to because it fits so well with the snow theme, but it seemed like such a simple, basic pattern that I felt weird including it. But after a lot of back and forth I decided to include it.

The snowball is just a little ball crocheted in white yarn, with a little smiley face. It is a little under 3" in diameter. I usually aim for 3"-5" for my mini amigurumi but even though this might be just a bit under that I didn't want to go any bigger because I felt like then it would be a full size snowball instead of a mini one.

The only yarn you need for this mini amigurumi is white. I used Red Heart Super Saver in White, the same white I have used in the other 2 mini amigurumi in the set so far, and it definitely won't be the last time you see white in this set. With the theme of snow it is a color that will appear frequently in the crochet along.

One thing that I highly recommend when crocheting this little snowball is using an invisible decrease. If you are not familiar with the invisible decrease it is when you work the decrease stitches in the front loops only. This makes the decreases a little less noticeable and you avoid having big holes where the yarn is pulling the previous stitches.

Three days in and so far we have a Little Snowman, a Mini Mitten, and a Small Snowball. Come back tomorrow to see the pattern for Day 4!

  1. Cute addition to the collection. It wouldn’t be a proper blizzard event without snowballs.
