We are on Day 10 of the Happy Harvest Mini Amigururmi Crochet Along, and there are only 12 days, so we are getting close to the end. Today we are adding another fruit to the harvest, this time a Pleased Peach.
I wanted to make sure to include at least one more fruit in the set since I only have a couple so far, at least that we consider fruits from a culinary perspective. I know several of the things I have included fall in the scientifically fruit, but culinarily vegetable category- like tomatoes, squash, and peppers. But the only ones so far that are fruits in both the scientific/botanical and culinary classification are the apple and the pear. So I decided to include a little peach.
The peach has a mostly rounded shape with a pointy end and an indented side. I made the indented side by wrapping the yarn around the outside and through the middle of the peach the same way that I did on the pepper, but only one time. I also added a tiny stem and a leaf.
The little peach is about 3" tall, maybe a little under, especially if you don't include the stem. It falls in the same size range as the other fruits and vegetables in the set, but kind of on the smaller end.
I had a hard time figuring out what color to use for the peach. I see a lot of peaches made with peach yarn, and you could totally do that but peaches aren't really peach. The problem is they are kind of a gradient of colors and that is kind of hard to show in a tiny crocheted version. I feel like they are kind of a yellow-orange color in some places, with a pinkish or orangish red tint in others. I decided maybe like a coral color would work since it is kind of in that pinkish orange range and it wouldn't be too bright so it would fit with the palette I was working with. I thought I had some in my stash but the only coral type yarn was a brighter, more pink, shade than what I was picturing (it was Red Heart Super Saver in Persimmon, which would probably be fine but it was brighter than I wanted to match the rest of the colors in my set). What I did have in my stash was a skein of Red Heart Super Saver Ombre in the color Hot Sauce which is kind of an orange-red ombre and I decided to use that for my peach. I used the lighter orange shade, but honestly I think that with the range of colors in a peach any parts would have worked. For the stem and leaf I used Loops and Threads Dark Taupe and Leaf Green, but any brown and green could work.

How to Crochet a Pleased Peach
Finished Size: about 3" tall
You will need:
- medium weight yarn in red-orange (or coral, peach, pink, or desired color), brown, and green (sample made in Red Heart Super Saver Ombre in Hot Sauce, and Loops and Threads Soft Classic in Dark Taupe, and Leaf Green)
- G crochet hook (4/4.25 mm)
- 2- 6 mm safety eyes
- Polyfil fiberfill
- yarn needle
- stitch markers
- scissors
- black embroidery floss and needle
Instructions:
The peach is made in 3 pieces, the peach, the leaf, and the stem, the peach starts with a magic ring, the leaf and stem start with a chain.
Peach
Make 1 with red-orange (or coral or peach) yarn, beginning with a magic ring
Round 1: in mr, ch 1, 6 sc (6 sc)
Round 2: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st] repeat around (9 sc)
Round 3: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 2 sts] repeat (12 sc)
Round 4: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st] repeat around (18 sc)
Round 5: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 2 sts] repeat (24 sc)
Round 6: [2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 3 sts] repeat (30 sc)
Rounds 7-12: 1 sc in each st (30 sc)
Insert eyes between rounds 9-10 about 3 sts apart, stitch a mouth below the eyes
Begin stuffing and continue stuffing as you work
Round 13: [sc2tog, 1 sc in next 3 sts] repeat around (24 sc)
Round 14: [sc2tog, 1 sc in next 2 sts] repeat around (18 sc)
Round 15: [sc2tog, 1 sc in next st] repeat around (12 sc)
Round 16: sc2tog, repeat around (6 sc)
Finish off and cut yarn leaving a long tail, weave opening closed, then stick needle down through the center of the peach, coming out just to the side of the pointed end. Wrap the yarn around the side of the peach and back into the center pulling to cinch the top in just a little bit and indenting the side slightly, secure the end and weave in.
Stem
Make 1 with brown yarn, beginning with a chain
ch 3
turn, sl st in ch closest to hook, and each ch to the end (3 sl st)
Cut yarn leaving long tail for sewing
Sew the stem to the top of the peach
Leaf
Make 1 with green yarn, beginning with a ch
ch 7
turn, sl st in ch closest to hook, sc in each of next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in each of next 2 ch, ch 1, turn and work back down the ch in the unworked edge, sl st in first st, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, sl st in last st
Cut yarn leaving long tail for sewing
Sew the leaf to the top of the peach next to the stem
