5 Little Monsters: Valentine Dishcloth Collection: #3 V-Day Stripes

Valentine Dishcloth Collection: #3 V-Day Stripes

Time for dishcloth number 3. This dishcloth is not very Valentine's Day specific other than the colors that I used to make it. You could easily make it in any colors for any holiday or to match your kitchen. I wanted to make something that would use all three colors and I came up with this V-stitch stripe.

This is also an easy pattern to make bigger or smaller by simply adding or taking away a multiple of three. Also, you can use any number of colors you choose but using three colors you don't need to cut the yarn at the end of each row. You can just carry it up the side to the next row of that color. It might look a little messy as you are doing it but the border will cover it up.

V-Day Stripes Dishcloth

  • 100% cotton yarn in 3 colors (I used Lily Sugar and Cream in White, Rose Pink and Hot Pink)
  • H crochet hook
  • yarn needle for weaving in ends
Finished size approximately 8 1/2" x 9"

Begin by chaining 27

Row 1: (dc, ch 1, dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 4 count as a skipped ch and 1 dc), [skip 2, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next stitch] repeat until there are 2 stitches remaining, skip 1, dc in last stitch, change color

Row 2: ch 3, turn, [ (dc, ch 1, dc) in ch 1 space] repeat in each ch space, dc in last stitch, change color

Repeat row two until the dishcloth is desired size. I did 14 more rows, ending with the same color I started with.

Single crochet evenly around all sides of the dishcloth, working evenly into the stitches along the side, being sure to cover the yarn that was carried up the side between rows, and working 3 sc in each corner. Then sc around again so that there are 2 rows of sc around the edge. Finish off and weave in ends.

That's it for this one but there is one more dishcloth to come. If you missed numbers 1 and 2 they can be found here and here.
