 My family and I are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and in our church, for those who are not familiar, children are baptized at 8 years old. One of my girls is turning 8 next month and is excitedly preparing for her baptism.

At church I teach a youth Sunday school Class for 11-18 year old young men and women. With next Sunday being the first Sunday of the new year we will be starting a new study program, this year studying the Book of Mormon.

New Young Women's Theme Printables

This past weekend was our church's (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) Semiannual General Conference. If you are not familiar with this it is a weekend twice a year where we listen to leaders of our church speak on a variety of topics. Sometimes during conference announcements and changes are made to different programs in the church. Some of the changes announced this time had to do with the Young Women's program (program for 12-18 year old girls).

He is Risen Easter Egg Activity

I am really late getting this post up since Easter is only a few days away but I still wanted to share it. This is really simple Easter activity that focuses on Christ and his resurrection and is a great way to discuss the spiritual side of Easter with kids in a fun, interactive way. It isn't really anything new, I have seen lots of versions of this activity on the internet but this is the version my family has used for many years. And even though Easter is only a few days away it is super easy to put together so there is still time.

Often times when I make things on my Cricut I like to use my own images. Whether that be something that I create somewhere or an image that I bought or found online, there are many times that I have a specific design that I want to use that is not found in Design Space. You can use just about any image you want and it really isn't hard to do at all.

Over the past several days I have shared printable quotes to go along with each of the of the 8 principles that are part of the #PrinceOfPeace Easter campaign on Mormon.org. I thought that since there were so many of them I would do a quick roundup post so that you can find them all in one place.

Hope Quote Printable #PrinceOfPeace

The last principle of the 8 principles that are part of the #PrinceOfPeace campaign on Mormon.org is Hope. As I did with the others I am sharing a free printable quote to go along with it. I chose another quote by Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Hope will open your eyes to the glories Heavenly Father has in store for you".

Prayer Quote Free Printable #PrinceOfPeace

Number 7 in my series of 8 printable quotes based on the principles that are part of the #PrinceOfPeace Easter campaign on Mormon.org is prayer. I had a hard time choosing a quote for prayer because there were a lot of really good ones that I came across as I was looking but I ended up choosing this quote by Henry B. Eyring "Heavenly Father hears your prayers, loves you, and He knows your name."

Scripture Free Printable Bookmarks #PrinceOfPeace

The next principle of the #PrinceOfPeace Easter campaing on Mormon.org is Scripture. For this one I decided to do something a little bit different than the others. With all of the others I chose to make printables available in 8" x 10" and 5" x 7". Since these quotes are about scriptures and scripture reading I decided to make bookmarks instead. I chose two quotes instead of just one. I liked both of them and had a hard time deciding between them so I figured I would just use both. There are four to a page, two of each quote.

Graditude Quote Free Printable #PrinceOfPeace

Another principle that is part of the #PrinceOfPeace campaign on Mormon.org is gratitude. I love this quote by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf. "We can choose to be grateful no matter what." It is easy to be grateful when things are good but when times are hard it can be more difficult to see all of the blessings we have but they are always there.

Free Printable Repentance Quote #PrinceOfPeace

Repentance is the fourth principle in the #PrinceOfPeace Easter campaign on mormon.org. This one was a little bit harder to find a quote that I really liked and the quote I chose might seem a little strange but let me tell you why I chose it. As I was looking for quotes I really wanted to find quotes that would be inspirational and encouraging. Quotes that people may want to put up somewhere as little reminders to encourage them throughout the day. So when it came to repentance I really didn't want something that screamed REPENT! I mean, I know we all need to repent, obviously that is why this is one of the principles, I just felt like for me I would rather have slightly more gentle reminder.

As I mentioned in my last post, I found quotes by LDS church leaders to go along with each of the 8 principles that are part of the #PrinceOfPeace campaign on Mormon.org. The first principle was Faith, then Compassion, and next is Forgiveness which is the principle for this post.

In my last post I talked about compassion, one of the 8 principles that are a part of the #PrinceOfPeace Easter campaign on Mormon.org. I made a printable of a quote about compassion and as I was working on it I thought, why not make a pretty printable quote to go along with each day. So, I found some quotes to go along with each of the 8 principles and over the next couple of days I will be sharing each of them. I'm not going to write a big long post like I did for the first one but instead I will just share the printable and maybe a little bit about why I chose the quote I did.

I don't often share a lot of religious stuff on my blog but around Christmas and Easter every year my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, does a campaign focusing on Jesus Christ. I love the campaigns that they do and I love to participate in any way I can. Last Year's Christmas campaign, #LightTheWorld, was awesome. I only wrote one post about one activity that my family did but it was really neat to spend the Christmas season teaching our kids to focus on what they can do for others rather than on themselves and the presents they want. It is something that we, as a family, plan to repeat every year. This year's Easter campaign is called #PrinceOfPeace. It is similar to the Christmas campaign in that it focuses on a different principle each day that we can focus on to become more Christlike in our lives. Each day of the week leading up to Easter has a principle with a scripture, a short video to go along with the theme as well as some ideas of things that you can do to live those principles. The principles are faith, compassion, forgiveness, repentance, gratitude, scripture, prayer, and hope. You can find out more on mormon.org.

Free Printables for Easter and Spring

Spring is almost officially here but where I am the weather has already started feeling more like spring. At least most of the time. A few days ago we had a day with a high of 60 degrees, it was beautiful, then later that evening we had a big snow storm with crazy wind and lightning. But I guess that is what you get during springtime in Utah. A few days ago my daughter pointed out to me that our tulips are starting to pop up in the flower bed. Little signs that spring is on the way. Easter is a little later this year than it was last year, it isn't until April, but spring and Easter kind of go together in my mind. I decided to make a couple of printables to celebrate the coming of springtime.

2017 LDS Youth Theme Printables

Each year the LDS (Mormon) Church has a theme for their youth program and this year the theme is "Ask" based on a scripture in the New Testament, James 1:5-6, which says,

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed” 

Thank You Cards and Hearts

This Christmas our family has been trying to focus on service and on Christ. We have been following along with the #LIGHTTheWORLD Initiative on Mormon.org and we have been trying to come up with ways that our family, including all of the little kids, can participate. I think one easy thing to do is to write a little thank you note to someone. There are always people you can thank for things, little or big, they have done for you. Even the kids that can't write yet can draw a picture to say thank you to someone.

Easter Gift Idea for Friends and Neighbors

In the Easter Advent that we are doing with our kids the activity for today was to make treats and take them to someone. I knew that we wouldn't really have time to make treats tonight because it also happens to be my son's birthday and we would be spending some time this evening celebrating that. I also felt like I didn't just want to do some sort of sweet treats, but since the whole point of the activities is to help us remember the true meaning of Easter I wanted to include something more along those lines. I had printed of a scripture printable, John 3:16,  from Melissa Esplin to use for my own home so I thought why not print off a few more to give to other people.

Christ Centered Easter Advent

I have been meaning to get this post up for several days but it seems like things just kept coming up. I feel bad that it is so late but better late than never I guess. I am really excited to work with Sugardoodle, and some amazing bloggers who are sharing their awesome Easter projects and ideas. The idea that I want to share today is an Easter advent activity created by Sugar Bee Crafts. With 5 little kids I am always looking for fun, creative, kid friendly ways to incorporate the true meaning of holidays like Easter. The Easter Bunny, Easter Baskets, egg hunts and all of that is a lot of fun but I want my kids to know that that is not the real reason why we celebrate Easter. That it is a time to remember Christ and the sacrifice he made for all of us. Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in the other things that  we forget the real reason behind it.
