Today is Day 5 of the Bewitching Bears Crochet Along, which means there is only one day left. Doing a one week crochet along instead of two weeks like I usually do makes it feel like it goes by so fast. I can't believe we are already almost done. For today's bear I made a Little Ghost Bear.

Today is Day 1 of the Bewitching Bears Crochet Along! I shared all of the details of the crochet along in a previous post, and I will update that post each day with the links to each new bear. But as a quick reminder of how the crochet along will work there will be a new pattern each day from today(10/20/25) through Saturday (10/25/25) for a total of 6 patterns. It has been a while since I made a sewing project and I have been wanting to make something for fall. I have had this cute little bundle of fall fabrics for a while, each little rolled up piece of fabric is a fat eighth, and I knew it would be perfect for what I had in mind. Especially because I was going to be making pumpkins and it had lots of pretty oranges.

My Mini Amigurumi Crochet Alongs are some of my favorite projects that I do throughout the year, but this year I have struggled to get them planned the way I had hoped. I did my last crochet along in the spring and had plans to do another in the summer and fall but the spring crochet along hit at an incredibly busy time for me with family stuff and by the time I finished I was feeling very stressed out and burnt out. I kind of just stopped posting all together. We had a lot going on with our kids and life was feeling so busy and overwhelming and I just kind of stepped away from my blog a little bit. I had ideas I was really excited about for a summer and fall crochet along, but I found that although taking a break was easy and kind of happened unintentionally without a lot of thought, starting back up and getting back on track is a lot of work and has to be a lot more intentional. I couldn't quite get things together enough to get those crochet alongs going like I planned, and I was kind of sad about it because I had some fun ideas and I really do love them. I eventually consigned myself to the fact that I just had to wait until Christmas, but then as I was working on some fall/halloween ideas so share this month I decided to throw together a little crochet along after all. It is just going to be a little bit smaller and a little bit different than past crochet alongs this time around.

A few years ago I used my Cricut to create some crocheted hat templates. Ever since then I have wanted to make a printable version, since the others were only helpful if you had a Cricut. A printable version would work for anyone. It has been on my to-do list forever and as we are heading into fall and crochet hat season I have been working on some new (and revamping some old) hat patterns so I figured this is the perfect time to finally get this project done.

It is Friday again, so time for another Friday Five. I haven't posted at all since last Friday because it has been a busy week for my family and I have been focused on spending time with them. My oldest son left on a 2 year mission for our church a couple of days ago so the past week has been busy packing, preparing for him to leave, doing a few last things as a family before he is gone for 2 years. But like I mentioned last week I have so many fall projects to share, as well as Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas projects, that I don't want to miss any more weeks of Friday Five. For today I have chosen a theme that is not really halloween specific, but it could definitely be used to help make halloween costumes. Today's five patterns are crocheted hats that can be used for Halloween costumes, or you can just make them for a fun hat to wear all fall/winter!

It has been a few weeks since I have done a Friday Five, but as we are heading into the last few months of the year Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are just around the corner. One of my favorite fall crochet projects is crocheted pumpkins. I love making them with different stitches to give them interesting texture. It kind of gives me a sweater type vibe, cozy and perfect for cool fall days. I have lots of crocheted pumpkins on my blog and they use a variety of different stitches, some worked in rows and others in the round. Both ways are very simple and are easy to adjust to make different sizes.

Life has been super busy lately and I have had a really hard time finding time to crochet or make other craft projects. I have recently been working on some behind the scenes stuff on my blog, and part of the included going through old posts and organizing and sorting them. It was fun to look back through all of the projects I have made over the past 10 years. As I was going through them I thought it would be fun to share some of those older posts more often. I want to do this in a few ways, including sharing them in emails and on social media, but one of the ways I decided I wanted to share those posts was to do a weekly roundup post. I have done this a few times in the past but not on a super regular basis. This time I want to start a weekly series. I am going to call it the Friday Five and each week I will choose a theme and select 5 posts to share that fit that theme. It could be a seasonal theme, a type of project, type of craft, anything that ties those 5 projects together. It has been a long time since I have gotten posts up on my blog consistently and it has kind of gotten me in a bit of a creative funk. Life just got super busy, the end of the school year and all of the craziness that goes along with that, and then summer break started and it seemed like I was spending all of my time running kids to all of their activities, camps, and friends houses. It was one of those times when I kept thinking- I just have to get through this trip/camp/activity/event and then I will have time to get back to work on stuff, but then that thing would finish and it the next one was happening. So then it was after this is done I will get back on track, and then the next thing, or the next. I don't think I was prepared for how busy life gets with a house full of teenagers. And now here we are 2 months later with school starting back up in just a few weeks and I haven't posted a thing all summer.

Crochet projects in the summer is kind of an interesting topic. Traditionally I think most people associate crochet with fall and winter, colder weather seasons, making things like hats, scarves, and blankets. But the truth is there are so many things that you can make and use during the summer, as well as plenty of things that you can make year round. Some of my favorite summer projects to make are things like bags, water bottle carriers, dishcloths, and other small, quick to make projects. Today is the last day of the Spring 2025 Little Safari Mini Amigururmi Crochet Along, Day 12.  I think if you are paying attention to the animals that have been included so far today's animal won't be a big surprise. I think it is one of the first animals many people think of when they think of the African savanna. I don't think you can have a safari themed project without including a giraffe, so for the final animal of the Little Safari Crochet Along is a Little Giraffe.

Easter is just around the corner and I have several patterns to share in the week or so leading up to it. To start off I have a little crocheted bunny pattern. Over the last couple of weeks I have been working on some spring and Easter themed crafts and one of the projects I had planned was an Easter project that used napkins to make a decoupage project. While I was pulling out supplies for that project I remembered I had some wood trays that I thought would be perfect for another decoupage project, so I went ahead and made that too.

Back in January I made a washcloth that had a snowflake design made out of puff stitches. After that I had the idea to make a washcloth for each month. For February I decided I wanted to make something that wasn't specifically Valentines, but kind of had a feminine, pretty vibe that I thought would go well with Valentine's Day. I also chose shades of pink and red. Well, I made those dishcloths, took the pictures, and then never posted them so now here we are at the end of March and I am finally getting my "February/Valentine" washcloth pattern up. Today is a day I have been looking forward to all year. Two years ago I started what has now become an annual series on my blog- Book Inspired Craft Week. It is a week long series around the first week of March, which is also right around Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss's Birthday. Every year my kids schools do a week of special activities, dress up days, read-a-thons, etc. and a couple years ago I thought, I love books and I love crafts, why not combine the two and join in the reading themed fun. Each day I choose a book that is either one that I remember loving when I was a kid, or one that has been a favorite of my kids or other family members, or that have some kind of connection to. I try to include a variety of picture books and chapter books, but all kid friendly.

We are only a couple of weeks away from Valentine's Day and I just shared the first printable valentine cards of the year a couple days ago, I have one to share today, and a couple more that will be coming next week.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner so it is time for some printable Valentine cards. I have a few different cards that I have made this year, to go along with a few different themes, and this maze themed card is the first one for this year.

When I think of January I think of cold and snowy. We haven't had much snow yet this season where I live, but I know half the country has been getting hit hard with snow and ice storms over the past couple of days. I'm not terribly sad we haven't had lots of snow because I don't really love it, especially driving in it, but it can be awfully pretty when everything is covered in a blanket of white.
