I Survived Thanos Shirt

A few weeks ago my husband and older kids attended FanX, our local comic convention. As he was preparing for the convention he asked me to make a couple of shirts for him to wear. One of the shirts that we made got a lot of comments so I decided to share it here.

Makers Gonna Make T-Shirt

Last month I had the opportunity to attend a blogger conference, I talked about it a little in my tiny crocheted owl post, but I had a couple more things I wanted to share about it. One of the things I did this year is make a couple of shirts to wear. Now, by make I don't mean I sewed them, I mean I bought a couple of cheap t-shirts from Walmart and decorated them with my Cricut. I thought I would share them here, along with the files I used to create them.

Cricut 101: Make Your Own Designs + A Patriotic Cut File

-Sponsored by Cricut. This post contains affiliate links-

One of the things that I love to do with my Cricut is use images, shapes, and text available in Design Space to create my own designs. You can combine them in all sorts of ways to make anything you want. Sometimes you may only want part of an image or maybe you want to add something to it. I feel like when it comes to creating your own designs some of your best friends in Design Space are the slice, weld, attach, group, and ungroup tools. Once you know how to use those tools you can create pretty much anything you want.

Cricut 101- Is It Worth It? and a Unicorn T-Shirt

-This post is sponsored by Cricut, all opinions and ideas are my own. This post contains affiliate links-

I have had my Cricut for nearly a year now and I have really loved having it. It has been a fun addition to my craft room and I use it all the time. For a while now I have been wanting to start a regular blog series about using the Cricut. I want to share lots of little tricks I have learned, fun things you can do with your Cricut, and answer questions you may have about Cricut machines. Before I got my Cricut I would see all of the projects people made with their cutting machines and think it would be really fun to have one. There seemed to be so much stuff that you could do with them. But then I would think about the cost and I wasn't sure it was really worth it. I mean, it looked like it would be cool but would I really use it enough to make it worth it. Then an opportunity came up for me to get one, and in full disclosure it was in exchange for a blog post so I didn't have to pay for it, and I was able to try it out and see how much I would use it and whether or not it was worth the expense. I think that is one of the first questions that a lot of people have when it comes to items like this. It is kind of like getting a sewing machine if you don't sew a lot, or kitchen appliances that you may only use once in a while. Is it worth the expense? I think the answer to that question will vary from person to person but I can share the ways that I use mine and maybe that will help someone decide whether or not it would be worth it for them.

Iron On Christmas Shirts- With Cricut Cut Files

A few weeks ago I was playing around in Cricut Design Space and I came up with a Christmas design that I originally thought would make a cute pillow. I was planning to make a plain black or white pillow cover, cut out the design, and iron it onto the pillow cover. The only problem, I have a lot of Christmas pillows and don't really need another, not to mention the fact that it really wouldn't have matched the others that I have. I still liked the design though, so I decided I was going to use it anyway. I thought my 3 girls would love some shirts for Christmas so I decided to use that design that I already had and make a couple more to go along with it. I ended up with 3 different designs and new Christmas shirts for each of my girls.

Geeky Baby Onesie Ideas- Plus 2 Free Cut Files

We only have one month left until this baby boy gets here so we have started getting everything ready, washing all of the little baby clothes, getting a new car seat, setting up the cradle, etc. I actually got rid of a lot of our little baby boy clothes a few years ago because I thought that Maren might be our last baby and a lot of the stuff that we have left is not exactly seasonally appropriate. Our other boys were born in January and March, this little guy is coming the end of July. As a result we figured he might be spending the first month or two mostly in onesies. Since I got my Cricut a few months ago I have had fun designing some shirts and onesies, in fact the very first project I made was actually a baby onesie, so we figured it would be fun to design some onesies for the baby.

Glitter Arrows Baby Shirt

Almost two months ago I had the opportunity to attend Snap Conference, a conference for craft and DIY Bloggers held here in Salt Lake. I can't believe that it has already been that long ago. Anyway, while I was there one of the sponsors was Expressions Vinyl and they were giving out sample packs of vinyl for us to use. I was really excited to get it because just a couple of weeks before I had gotten a Cricut Explore Air so now I could make lots of cool vinyl projects. I opened up the pack and looked at the different colors and types of vinyl and had lots of ideas of how I could use it. I actually made something, a sign, shortly after Snap was finished using some of the vinyl that I was given and eventually I will get that project posted but I didn't love the pictures that I took of it so I need to retake them first. In the meantime I came up with a design for a baby shirt, although really you could put it on anything. Onesies are one of my favorite things to make because it is such a quick and easy project. In just a few minutes you can have a cute little onesie all ready to go. They are perfect to throw in with a baby gift. I have already made a few for my baby that is due in a couple of months and have more designs ready to go. This one however, is not for my little guy but will be used as a baby gift for a little girl. The glitter heat transfer vinyl is so fun for a girly touch, it adds some extra sparkle to the shirt and since I have mostly been working on baby boy projects it was king of fun to do something girly.

Let the Adventure Begin Onesie

This month I am teaming up with Cricut to share some baby ideas using my new Cricut. This past weekend I finally had a chance to pull it out and play around with it a little. I wanted to make some onesies to use as baby gifts for some friends who are having babies soon. Since having a new baby is always a new adventure, whether it is your first or your sixth, I thought it would be fun to put "Let the Adventure Begin" on the onesie.

Future Geek Baby Shirt

I have been wanting to get a cutting machine for a while so I was really excited when a couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to team up with Cricut and not only get a brand new Cricut Explore Air, but also get together with a group of local bloggers for an evening of crafting and learning how to use my new machine. We made little baby onesies or bibs that night and I thought it would be fun to share the one that I made.

Quick and Easy Valentine's Day Shirt

This project was super quick and easy so even though Valentine's Day is only a few days away, and school parties are even sooner, there is still time to make one. My oldest daughter has been asking me to make her a Valentines outfit for a while. As we were getting ready to leave for church last Sunday she was insisting that she needed a Valentine skirt to wear. She didn't get one, but I made this shirt for her instead. I used a little bit of gold heat transfer vinyl that I already had and I bought a $3 pink shirt from Walmart so in addition to only taking a few minutes to make it was also really inexpensive. I played around with a few different designs but ended up deciding that just one big heart was going to be the easiest and look the best. I don't have a cutting machine, if you do it would probably be just as easy to do a more complicated design, but since I was just cutting it by hand I wanted to keep it simple. My middle daughter saw it and insisted that she needed a heart shirt too, so I ended up running back to Walmart to get another $3 pink shirt in her size. I still need to make that one but since it only takes a few minutes to make I know I can get it done before Thursday when she has her school party.

Lacy Shells Crocheted Toddler Top

I recently picked out some yarns that I wanted to try from Lion Brand Yarns. One of them was their Babysoft yarn. I chose a pretty purple shade thinking it would be perfect for a little baby sweater. I have been wanting to try designing a baby sweater for a long time. I think they are a little intimidating because of the fact that they need to be sized right, the neck needs to be the right size, the sleeve holes, the sleeves, the chest needs to fit, the length. It just seems like a lot to get right, but I have some ideas that I think would make cute little sweaters so I keep thinking that one of these days I just need to try it. I thought this would be the perfect yarn to do it with and was pretty excited to try. Then I remembered that it is June, the beginning of summer, probably the worst time to attempt a sweater. I decided that I wanted to try something a little bit more summery and maybe come back to the sweater idea in a couple of months.

Handmade Baby Gift: Embroidered Onesies

embroidered baby onesies

I love having a stash of baby gifts on hand or some really easy projects that I can make quickly when I have a shower to go to or a new baby is born. These embroidered onesies are the kind of gift that don't take a lot of time to make if you need one fast or that you can make a bunch of to have on hand when you need them.

Little Girls Dresses For a Wedding

A couple of weeks ago I posted a tutorial for some bow ties that I made for my two boys, I mentioned there that I was making them for a wedding and that I was making the dresses for my girls as well.

The wedding was last weekend so, as usual, I was finishing up the dresses last week. The colors were a bright blue and yellow. I decided that I wanted the two little girls dresses to match but to have my oldest daughter's dress be different. I wanted it to be a style that looker a little older, not so toddlerish. My sister-in-law, the bride, said she really wanted some yellow because she was worried no one would have yellow so I decided to do the two little girls in yellow. I was glad I did because they were the only two of the nine nieces and nephews to be in yellow.
