Today is a day I have been looking forward to all year. Two years ago I started what has now become an annual series on my blog- Book Inspired Craft Week. It is a week long series around the first week of March, which is also right around Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss's Birthday. Every year my kids schools do a week of special activities, dress up days, read-a-thons, etc. and a couple years ago I thought, I love books and I love crafts, why not combine the two and join in the reading themed fun. Each day I choose a book that is either one that I remember loving when I was a kid, or one that has been a favorite of my kids or other family members, or that have some kind of connection to. I try to include a variety of picture books and chapter books, but all kid friendly.

If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen me share the new embroidery kits that Missouri Star Quilt Company released this month. They sent me 2 different kits, one a learn to embroider kit, and the other more of a project kit. They are both really beautiful kits but for this project I am using the Beginner kit.

Embroidered Felt Corner Bookmark

I am popping in in the middle of my crochet along to share a project as a collaboration with Team Creative Crafts, but if you are looking for the next crochet along pattern it will be shared later today. Each month I join a group of craft bloggers to all make crafts based on a specific theme. This month the theme is felt.

Easter Egg Embroidery Sampler

I really enjoy embroidery and used to do it a lot more often. When I was in college I worked in a local consignment/quilt shop and I made and sold embroidery patterns. I'm not sure why I haven't done a lot of embroidery lately, but every once in a while I get the desire to pick it up again.

Embroidered Canvas Paintings

I recently bought a big pack of canvases in order to make a Valentine project that I will share soon, but with all of those canvases sitting in my craft room I started getting the itch to paint something.

8 Baby Gifts to Sew

When someone I know has a new baby I love making a baby gift to give them. I often like to pair my handmade gift with something super practical, like diapers, but I love adding something handmade by me.

Mini Maker Kits

-This post may contain affiliate links, all supplies used provided by Leisure Arts-

Leisure Arts recently sent me a variety of their Mini Maker kits to try out and I thought they would be really great for this time of year and wanted to share what I liked about them. I think they would make great gifts for any crafters on your list, especially if you know there is a new craft they would like to learn.

10+ Pumpkin Crafts

I have shared a roundup of Halloween crochet and of Halloween Cricut projects, but today I wanted to share all of the pumpkin patterns I have on my site. I am not including any Jack O Lantern crafts, only plain pumpkins that can be used to decorate all throughout the fall, even after Halloween. These all work great for Thanksgiving too. So here are a few different crocheted pumpkin patterns, painted pumpkins, stitched pumpkins, and more.

Easy Embroidered Felt Snowflake Ornaments

A few years ago when I first started my blog I spent a year as a contributor on Craftaholics Anonymous. Each month I would share a new pattern or tutorial there and usually I would share it on my blog a few weeks later. Some of them I never shared here, either it was past the season or I just never got around to it. I decided it was about time to share them, especially a couple that were Christmas patterns.

Embroidered Felt Heart Hair Clips

I have participated in Craft Lightning Series in the past and each time they have had a theme and everyone participating is given the challenge to make a quick craft (15 minutes or less) that fits with that theme. This year instead of themes that go along with a holiday or season we have themes based on a material or supply. This time around the challenge was felt.

Halloween Embroidery Trio

Every month I design a few projects for Fairfield World using their products. Occasionally they will partner with other companies so that we can use their products in out projects as well. When they asked if I was interested in using DecoArt products in one of my projects I knew right away the type of project that I wanted to do. Earlier this year I made an embroidery that combined a stencil and fabric paint with the embroidery. It was really fun to combine paint and embroidery and it turned out to be one of my very favorite projects. I wanted to do something similar to that again. I picked out the paints that I wanted to try, SoSoft Fabric Paint to paint on the fabric, and Chalky Finish Paint to paint the frames. I originally thought that I would make a Christmas project but when I got the paints I was really excited to get started on a project and there were some colors that I thought would be perfect for Halloween. I decided to do a Halloween project instead. I like to use interfacing or fusible fleece behind my embroidery projects and for this project I chose to use Smooth Fusible Fleece from Fairfield World.

Embroidered Dumbledore Quote

-This post contains affiliate links-

Last year I participated in the Happy Harry Potter Series that Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings puts on each July and this year I joined in again but instead of doing one Harry Potter project here on my blog I decided to do two, one here and one over on my husband's blog The Geeky Mormon. Today I am sharing this Harry Potter themed embroidery over there, next week I have another project that I will be sharing here. For this project I decided to embroider a quote from Dumbledore that he says in one of the movies. It is a pretty popular quote so I'm sure you've heard it before and seen different versions of it but I like it so this is my version.

DIY Embroidered Espadrilles

As one of their Master Makers Fairfield World provided me with supplies used in this project as well as compensating me for this post, but all ideas and opinions are my own. This post also includes affiliate links.

This past month I have had such a hard time keeping up with blogging, I think partially this pregnancy has just taken a lot out of me, then you throw in the end of the school year with everything the kids have going on, it has just been a crazy few weeks. Hopefully I can get back in a good routine and get back to posting more regularly but going into summer with all of the kids home and 2 months left of this pregnancy, I'm not making any promises. I actually have lots of projects to post about, some that are already finished and some that I am working on, it is just getting them written up that I have been having a hard time with. Today I am sharing a project that I have been meaning to do for a while and finally got done. I made a pair of shoes for my daughter. That probably seems like kind of a strange thing to make but it was actually really easy.

She is a Wildflower Embroidery

The first of each month I participate in a craft challenge with a group of craft bloggers. This month the theme of the challenge was "Garden". I decided that I didn't want to something actually for the garden but instead something that was flowery and reminded me of a garden. I decided on a flowery embroidery project. I wanted to try something kind of new so I combined the embroidery with a little bit of paint and I really liked the end result.

Eiffel Tower Embroidery

As one of their Master Makers Fairfield World provided me with the interfacing used in this project as well as compensating me for this post, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

My 7 year old daughter has been obsessed with Paris lately. Every time she sees something with the Eiffel Tower on it she points it out to us and starts talking about how much she wants to go to Paris someday. It all started when she got an American Girl Doll for Christmas. I had always been pretty against the idea of spending that much on a doll but fell in love with last year's Girl of the Year doll, Grace, because just like her Grace loves baking. She has always dreamed of having a bakery when she grows up. We ended up deciding to splurge on a Grace doll for her for Christmas and she absolutely loved it. Well, it turns out that in her story Grace also went to France where, I think her grandparents, have a french bakery. The doll comes with a shirt that has the Eiffel Tower on it and I think a lot of the accessories that you can get have a French theme, things like berets and bistro sets. So now we have a little girl who loves everything about Paris and Grace, she even told me the other day that she wishes we had named her Grace.

Embroidered Felt Snowflake Ornaments on Craftaholics Anonymous

Yesterday my latest post for Craftaholics Anonymous was posted and I wanted to share it here so that you can go check it out. I wanted to make a quick and easy, cute Christmas project so I came up with some simple little snowflake ornaments. They are just a little snowflake embroidered on a circle of felt, simple but pretty. I love red and white together at Christmas time so I used red felt for my felt circles but I think a light blue or turquoise would be really pretty for the background as well.

Patchwork Peace on Earth Pillows

Patchwork peace on Earth Christmas pillows

A couple of days ago I had the opportunity to guest post over on Fort Worth Fabric Studio's blog as a part of their Christmas in July Series. I was really excited about the idea of participating because it got me to make something for myself that I can use in my house this Christmas. Every year I say I'm going to make something, a quilt or a pillow or something, for our house but every year I wait to long and Christmas comes and goes without it ever happening. Christmas in July was the perfect opportunity to get that project done. I made a set of pillows and I absolutely love the way they turned out. Now I can't wait for Christmas so I can put them out. Go here to find out how to make your own.

Handmade Baby Gift: Embroidered Onesies

embroidered baby onesies

I love having a stash of baby gifts on hand or some really easy projects that I can make quickly when I have a shower to go to or a new baby is born. These embroidered onesies are the kind of gift that don't take a lot of time to make if you need one fast or that you can make a bunch of to have on hand when you need them.

Baby Gift Idea on Craftaholics Anonymous: Embroidered Onesies

It seems like this is the time of year when lots of people are having babies and there is always a need for a baby gift. I love giving handmade gifts and on Craftaholics Anonymous I am sharing an easy handmade gift that can be completely personalized for the person you are giving it to. These embroidered baby onesies and really fun and easy to make. They don't take a lot of time to make and, although I share the patterns for the designs I made, you can put anything on them.

Embroidering on knits can be a little challenging but I tried out a few different methods and came up with one that I think makes it really easy. Come check it out here.

Doily Embroideries

Today I have another embroidery post to share. I mentioned before, in the Create embroidery post, that I have been trying to come up with some things to use to decorate my sewing area. This little collection of embroideries was made for that purpose. It was one of those ideas that popped into my head and I thought "that should be pretty simple to do". Well, it turned out to be quite a bit more difficult than I thought it would be. Drawing the designs was a little more challenging than I had anticipated. I sketched out some designs after looking at lots of pictures of doilies. I knew I wanted them to be relatively open designs so I didn't have as much stitching to do, I drew lots of little doodles before deciding which ones I wanted to use. Then came the hard part. Trying to turn a rough sketch into something that looked even was not easy. The scallops around the outside and the designs in the middle are definitely not perfect but I tried to get them as close to even as I could. Once I finally got my patterns made it really wasn't that hard. It took a while to make them because it is a lot of stitching but I just worked on it a little at a time. It was a nice, easy evening project.
