Bead Stitch Hat Video Tutorial

-This post may contain affiliate links-

I have a couple of videos on YouTube showing how to do some of the stitches used in the Bead Stitch Hat and Cowl, but I have been getting a lot of requests to show how to make the video from start to finish.

Easy Ribbed Crocheted Pumpkin Video Tutorial

After sharing the written pattern for the Easy Ribbed Crocheted Pumpkin I decided to put together a quick video tutorial showing step by step how to make it. I thought that it was an easy enough pattern that it wouldn't be too hard to put together a step by step video tutorial showing exactly how I made it.

Tiny Owl Amigurumi

I recenlty attended Snap Conference, a conference for creative bloggers. This year I had the opportunity to teach a class. They have lots of business classes that teach everything from social media to time management to the legal side of running a business, but in addition to those classes there are also a variety of hands on classes taught where you get to make something, maybe learn a new skill. In years past I have taken classes to learn things like paper piecing, and brush lettering (which I learned is not my talent, at least not without a lot of practice). This year I went to a gold leaf absract art class taught by my friend Natalie from Doodlecraft. It was great because I had never used gold leaf before and it is always fun to try something new. I taught a beginning crochet class, more specifically a beginning amigurumi class.

How to Crochet: The Bead Stitch Video Tutorial

After posting the Bead Stitch Hat and Cowl patterns I thought I would put together a video tutorial on the stitches I used. Here I am sharing my video tutorial for the bead stitch. The bead stitich is similar to a puff stitch but it is worked around a double crochet next to it instead of into the stitch below it.

How to Crochet: Half Double Crochet in the Third Loop Video Tutorial

I recently posted a couple of new patterns and I have had a few questions on the stitches used in those patterns, specifically the half double crochet in the third loop and the bead stitch. I decided to make a couple of videos to better show how to do each of those stitches.

Crocheted Turkey Video

A couple of years ago I made a crocheted turkey for Fairfield World. Recently I have gotten a few questions about how to crochet the legs/feet of the turkey. I thought I would make a quick video to help clarify the written instructions. The video only shows how to make the legs, not whole turkey, since that seems to be the part that people are having a difficult time with.

How to Make Weighted Bases for Crochet Projects

-This post contains affiliate links-

One of my favorite thing to crochet are amigurumi, or stuffed, crocheted dolls, toys, and figures. Some of these items are meant as decorations and I want them to be able to stand up on thier own. To help them stand up I like to add weighted bases to the bottom of the item. This gives them a nice heavy base so they don't tip over or wobble around. I use Poly-Pellets as the weight for my bases. In the video below I show a couple different ways that I make these bases to add to my crochet projects.

Solid Granny Square Dishcloth with Crab Stitch Edging

I was recently asked to make a video showing how to do the crab stitch or reverse single crochet and rather than just making a sample piece that would never get used for anything I decided that I would make a dishcloth and finish it with the crab stitch edging. Once I made it I figured I might as well post the pattern here. It is a very simple pattern, I started with a solid granny sqaure and edged it with the crab stitch. If you aren't sure how to do the crab stitch, also known as reverse single crochet you can watch my video explaining how to do it.

How to Crochet the Crab Stitch or Reverse Single Crochet

After I made my last video on how to make a magic ring, I asked readers/viewers if there were any specific tutorials they would like to see, any stitches, tips, etc. that would be helpful. One of the request that I had was for a tutorial on the crab stitch, aka reverse single crochet. I decided that that would be my next video so here it is:

Cricut 101: Make Your Own Designs + A Patriotic Cut File

-Sponsored by Cricut. This post contains affiliate links-

One of the things that I love to do with my Cricut is use images, shapes, and text available in Design Space to create my own designs. You can combine them in all sorts of ways to make anything you want. Sometimes you may only want part of an image or maybe you want to add something to it. I feel like when it comes to creating your own designs some of your best friends in Design Space are the slice, weld, attach, group, and ungroup tools. Once you know how to use those tools you can create pretty much anything you want.

How To Crochet: The Magic Ring

video tutorial showing how to crochet the magic ring

I have been wanting to make some short crochet videos for a while, showing a stitch or technique, and I decided to finally do it. One of the crochet techniques I get asked about most frequently is the magic ring (also called the magic circle or magic loop), so I thought I would start with that. In this quick video I show why you may want to use the magic ring in place of working into a ring of chains, and how I make the magic ring.

Cricut 101: Uploading Your Own Images

-This post sponsored by Cricut, all ideas and opinions are my own-

In the year that I have had my Cricut I have made so many different kinds of projects. Somtimes I can find exactly what I am looking for in the images available through Cricut or I can adapt one of those images to make it into what I need. But sometimes I am looking for something I can't find, or maybe I just have a specific image I want to cut out. For example, I cut out a logo sticker using my 5 Little Monsters Logo. Of course that isn't going to be available through Cricut because it was something that I designed myself, but I was able to upload that image and cut it out that way. I did the same for a logo for my husband's website. I also uploaded my own images for some of the geeky shirts that I made for my baby. I have used that feature quite a bit so today I thought I would demonstrate how to do that.

Crocheted Stocking Heel Video Tutorial

A couple of weeks ago I posted the pattern for my Crocheted Stocking Advent Calendar. The heel portion of the pattern was a little bit difficult to explain in writing and I had a few questions about it so I made a video tutorial to help clarify that portion of the stocking. Hopefully this will help if you are having a hard time figuring out the heel.
