5 Little Monsters: 2022

Hello Summer Circle Sign

-This post may contain affiliate links-

I can't believe that summer is almost here. My kids only have a couple of weeks of school left before they are out for summer vacation. So with spring holidays over and summer just around the corner I have been trying to switch my crafting focus to summer crafts.

Crocheted Dice or Trinket Bags 3 Ways

-This post may contain affiliate links-

A few years ago I shared a new crochet hat pattern of mine on Facebook. In the comments someone shared how they used that pattern with a thinner yarn and turned it into a little dice bag. It turned out really cool and I have kind of wanted to try making one ever since.

Notebooks with Iron On Designs

-This post may contain affiliate links-

Iron on is probably my favorite material to use with my Cricut. Most of the time I use it to make things like shirts, bags, and other fabric items. But, you can actually use iron on on a lot of different types of surfaces besides fabric, like wood, paper, cardstock, cork, and more.

Tiny Turtles

I rarely buy a new skein of yarn just because I like it. I usually only buy new yarn when I have a specific project in mind and I typically go to the store looking for exactly what I need. I'm not a very impulsive buyer, but every once in a while I see some yarn that I wasn't planning on buying but I immediately picture in my mind the perfect project and decide I have to get it. Then sometimes I bring that yarn home and start working on that perfect project only to find that I kind of hate it, the project not the yarn, like maybe that wasn't the perfect project for that yarn after all.

Shibori Inspired Tie Dye Swaddle Blankets

I cannot believe it is already May. This year seems to be flying by, but maybe that is just me. But a new month means another Team Creative Crafts collaboration. I really enjoy these challenges because it forces me to come up with something that I would probably not otherwise think to do. This month's theme is Tie Dye.

Hats with the Cricut Hat Press

-This post may contain affiliate links-

I had the opportunity to try out the new Cricut Hat Press and I had a lot of fun with it. I enjoyed choosing designs for the hats and then actually making them. I have tried making hats in the past and it was super tricky. Trying to deal with the curved shape of the hat was a big challenge.

Ukraine Shirts and Bracelets

My 9 year old daughter is one who feels things very deeply and is very sensitive to things going on around her. But even knowing that I don't think I really anticipated how much she would be affected by the war in Ukraine. Ever since she found out about what was happening she has been very concerned about the people there. She prays for them regularly and talks to us about it a lot. I know that she wishes there was more she could do to help.

Trellis Stripe Market Bag

-This post may contain affiliate links-

Market bags are one of my favorite spring/summer crochet projects. It seems like you can always use bags, whether you are using them as actual market bags or reusable grocery bags, or to carry your latest crochet project, to give something to someone, or anything else you want to put in them, you can always find a use for a bag.

Nature Perler Bead Designs

-This post may contain affiliate links-

It has been a long time since I have made some new Perler Bead designs. I was putting together some email newsletters recently, last month for St. Patrick's Day and this month for Easter, and I was looking through projects I had previously made for those holidays so that I could share them. I had Perler Bead designs for both holidays and it made me think maybe it was time to make some more.

Knotted Ears Bunny Bag

Easter is only a few days away, but I thought I would share one last Easter project. These little bunny treat bags turned out so cute.

Crocheted Frog

-This post may contain affiliate links-

My oldest daughter loves frogs and one day, after seeing another stuffed animal that I had crocheted, asked me if I would make her a frog. She wanted it similar in size and style to the other stuffed animal but she specifically requested soft, fluffy, green yarn. I didn't have any yarn that fit those requirements so I kind of put it on a mental list of something to look for and make eventually.

Another month is here which means another collaboration with Team Creative Crafts. This month the theme is Birthday Party Crafts! As usual this means that there will be a fun giveaway (and if you like yarn as much as I do be sure to scroll down to check it out), and several crafts with a birthday party theme.

Easter Egg Embroidery Sampler

-This post may contain affiliate links-

I really enjoy embroidery and used to do it a lot more often. When I was in college I worked in a local consignment/quilt shop and I made and sold embroidery patterns. I'm not sure why I haven't done a lot of embroidery lately, but every once in a while I get the desire to pick it up again.

More Crocheted Surprise Eggs

A few years ago at Christmas time I did a 12 Days of Crocheted Stocking Stuffers Series where each day for 12 days I shared a small crochet project that would fit in a stocking. There was a variety of different projects included in the series, but one of the projects was a set of little Crocheted Surprise Eggs

Carrot Shaped Dipped Rice Krispie Treats

-This post may contain affiliate links-

I'm not sure why I have carrots on my mind for Easter projects this year, but for some reason I do since this is the second carrot themed project in a row that I am sharing. Earlier this week it was a crocheted carrot bag, and now dipped carrot shaped Rice Krispie treats for a fun Easter treat.

Crocheted Carrot Drawstring Treat Bag

-This post may contain affiliate links-

A few weeks ago I was scrolling through Instagram and I saw a picture someone shared of a crocheted drawstring bag that was a peachy color with green at the top. For some reason, even though the bag was just a normal rectangle shape, and it was peach not orange, and had absolutely nothing to do with carrots, it immediately sparked an idea in my mind to make a carrot shaped/colored drawstring bag for Easter.

Rope Wrapped Rainbows

Spring is officially here and I am so ready for it. I don't mind the cold and snow of winter around Christmas time, but once we are getting to the end of January I am ready for the winter to be over and the warmer weather and longer days that come with Spring. By the end of March, when spring actually arrives, I am more than ready for it.

Cricut Cutaway Cards

-This post may contain affiliate links-

One of my favorite things about the Cricut Joy is how easy it is to make cards for any occasion. When Cricut Joy first came out insert cards came out at the same time. I thought they were a really neat way to make cards, mostly because I'm not a huge paper crafter.  I enjoy simple paper projects, but I am not the place to come for amazing, complex cards that use lots of different techniques. If is is beyond gluing a couple of pieces of paper together it is probably not for me.

St. Patrick's Day Printable Treat Tags

-This post may contain affiliate links-

I don't typically do a lot for St. Patrick's day beyond wearing green, but I thought it would be fun to make some little treat bags. There are lots of candies that I thought would be fun little treats for St. Patrick's Day, really you could use anything green, rainbow, or gold.

Baby Bear Crocheted Hat

-This post may contain affiliate links-

A few months ago we had a family baby shower for my sister who was expecting her first baby. All of the girls in the family were invited and my girls each wanted to put together a gift to give to their new baby cousin from them. Each of them picked a little book, and chose a design for a onesie. My youngest daughter's nickname is Mare-Bear, or sometimes just Bear, so she chose a bear design for her onesie and a bear book. At the last minuteI thought it would be fun to add a little baby bear hat, so I made one up really fast to add to her gift.

I am so happy March is here. I know spring doesn't officially start for a couple more weeks, but once we make it to March it feels like spring is here. With a new month also comes a new Team Creative Crafts Collaboration and this month our theme was Spring and Garden. As with every month be sure to scroll down to see the other Spring and Garden crafts shared this week, and enter a fun giveaway!

Beaded Stitch Markers with Hook Sizes

-This post may contain affiliate links-

I am someone who always has a million projects going at any given time. I have lots of ideas and often start working on the next idea before I finish one. This happens to me a lot with crochet projects. I usually have an on the go project that I take with me when I am sitting in the car in the school pickup line. A project I only work on at home because it has lots of pieces or colors, or it needs other stuff that I don't want to carry around. And then there are usually a few that I have have started simply because I saw a skein of yarn and had an idea pop in my head and started it right then.

Happy Birthday Banner

-This post may contain affiliate links-

We recently celebrated my daughter's birthday and kind of last minute I decided it would be fun to put up some kind of decoration while she was at school to surprise her with when she got home. I only had a few minutes and I didn't have any balloons or streamers or anything like that, but I had lots of paper and a Cricut so I made a super quick, simple Happy Birthday banner to hang up for her.

Chalkboard Valentine Sign- Dollar Store Craft

-This post may contain affiliate links-

Dollar store crafts are a great way to add to your holiday decor without spending a lot of money. Their craft section has actually grown a lot over the last couple of years and you can get quite a variety of craft supplies there, as well as other items that may not be "craft supplies" but can be used in projects.

Simple Snuggles Baby Blanket

This year got off to a rough start for my family, January was not a fun month and I am glad it is over. Between house issues, sickness, and constantly changing schedules and plans, I feel like I went through January in a constant state of stress. Crocheting, and crafting in general, has always been very therapeutic for me, so as I was feeling so stressed I decided that I need a super simple, kind of mindless, project to work on.

Crocheted Heart Treat Bag

February is here, which means Valentine's Day is coming up fast. As part of this month's Team Creative Crafts collaboration I crocheted some little heart shaped treat bags. Be sure to scroll down to see all of the other Valentine's crafts being shared today, as well as to enter the giveaway.

Cricut Bright 360

-This post sponsored by Cricut, the product was sent to me to review. This post contains affiliate links.-

My craft room is down in my basement and the lighting is terrible. Not only is there no natural light, the overhead lights make weird shadows, and some areas are just really dark. I have wanted to find a good lighting solution for my craft space for a long time, so when Cricut announced their new lamp, Cricut Bright 360, I was excited to try it out.

Printable Fidget Valentines

-This post may contain affiliate links-

My kids are obsessed with fidget toys lately, and I know they aren't the only ones. Our PTA at one of my kids' schools has a school store and we added pop-its to the things we sell and they have been hugely popular. I have nieces and nephews that love them, kids friends who are obsessed. So not only are they a big hit with my kids it seems like most other kids are just as obsessed with them too.

It is that time of year when everyone is setting goals and making resolutions. I love this time of year because I enjoy both reflecting back on the past year, and also setting goals for what I would like to accomplish over the new year.
