At the end of every year one of my favorite things is to put together a post of my top projects of the year. It is a fun way for me to look back at the things that I have made throughout the year. I only include actual pattern or project posts on the list, not announcements or roundup posts. So all of the things on the list are projects that I made and shared this year.
The past couple of years I feel like I have not been posting as much as I usually do, and this year was an especially rough one. I shared fewer projects this year than I have since I started this blog. This year was a busy year with my family and I really felt like I needed to step back and focus on them, they are my number one priority and I am so grateful for a job that allows me the ability to do that. When I started this blog I had babies and toddlers and I thought it would be easier when they got older, but a house full of teenagers is a whole different kind of busy. One thing that was different this year is that since starting my Mini Amigurumi Crochet Alongs I have tried to do between 3 and 4 each year, and this year I only ended up getting one up in the spring, the Little Safari Crochet Along (spoiler alert: all of those animals made the list of top posts this year), and then I threw together one slightly different, shorter crochet along for Halloween. I am already working on crochet alongs as well as other projects for next year so I think 2026 will be a good year, with more projects to share and I can't wait. I am really excited for some of the things I have planned. But back to 2025, let's take a look at the top 20 projects of the year!
Did your favorite new 5 Little Monsters pattern make the list?
Counting Down the Top 20 Projects of 2025
20- Moss Stitch Laptop and Tablet Sleeve
The post that came in at number 20 was my laptop or tablet sleeve made with the moss stitch. The simple stitch combined with chunky yarn made this a quick project to make and it is also something that is useful.
19- Snowflake Washcloth
The snowflake washcloth is made using puff stitches to create the raised snowflake design. It was the very first pattern I published this year.
18- Raspberry Stitch Washcloth
Number 18 is another washcloth/dishcloth pattern. This one uses the raspberry stitch to give the washcloth its texture.
17- Little Gazelle
Coming in at number 17 is the first of the Mini Amigurumi from the Little Safari Crochet Along this Spring. The Little Gazelle was the Day 6 pattern from the Little Safari.
16- Little Witch Bear
The project in the number 16 spot is the Little Witch Bear from the Bewitching Bears Crochet Along. This little witch with a broom was one of 6 Halloween themed bears that were part of that crochet along. I will be sharing more bears all throughout 2026 as part of my Bears of the Month Crochet Along and they will all be the same size as this little bear.
15- Little Ostrich
Number 15 is another one of the Safari animals. This one is the little Ostrich which was the pattern from Day 8 of the Little Safari Crochet Along.
14- Little Zebra
Another Little Safari animal, this time the Day 10 animal, a little black and white striped Zebra.
13- Little Monkey
And another Little Safari animal is in the number 13 spot, this one was a little surprise bonus animal that I included in addition to the planned 12. It is made to look like a little Vervet Monkey.
12- Little Warthog
Number 12 is, you guessed it- another Little Safari mini amigurumi. The Little Warthog was one the pattern for Day 7 of the Little Safari Crochet Along.
11- Granny Stripe Market Bag
Taking a break from the Little Safari animals, Day 11 is a crocheted market bag pattern. The Granny Stripe Market Bag to be exact. The granny stitch is worked in rounds using a self-striping yarn to make this bag.
10- Little Rhino
The break did not last long however, because the number 10 most popular pattern of year is the Little Rhino from the Little Safari Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along.
9- Little Crocodile
The ninth most popular pattern of the year is another Little Safari animal, this time the Little Crocodile from Day 3 of the Little Safari Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along.
8- Little Giraffe
Number 8 is another mini amigurumi from the Little Safari Crochet Along this spring, and there are still several more to come. This one is the Little Giraffe which was the final animal in the crochet along.
7- Little Hippo
Coming in at number 7 is another design from the Little Safari Crochet Along, the Little Hippo. The Little Hippo was the Day 5 pattern from the crochet along.
6- Cuddly Mouse in Overalls
Number 6 is a super soft and squishy plushie that was part of my annual Book Inspired Craft series, a cuddly mouse wearing overalls inspired by the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.
5- Little Elephant
We have reached the Top 5 posts of the year and this year the number 5 pattern was the Little Elephant from the Little Safari Crochet Along.
4- Little Cape Buffalo
This next section, numbers 4, 3, and 2, all happen to be from the Little Safari Crochet Along. So the 4th most popular pattern overall, 3rd most popular of the safari animals is the Little Cape Buffalo. He might be my personal favorite with his big horns.
3- Little Cheetah
Number 3 is the Little Cheetah. I also included a leopard variation, made using the same pattern but with different colors, so you can make either one or both.
2- Little Lion
The 2nd most popular pattern of the year, and the most popular animal from the Little Safari Crochet Along is the Little Lion, he was also the Day 1 pattern so it is possible that is part of why he came out on top, but he is pretty cute too. I loved the Little Safari Crochet Along, it might be my favorite but it is hard to decide. I am glad you seemed to love it too, and all of the animals made the top 20 list for the year.
1- Ridgeline Hat
And finally in the number 1 spot, the most popular new pattern released this year is...
The Ridgeline Hat. This hat was part of a crochet along with several other crochet designers to give you gift ideas that you could make. My theme was gifts for anyone, so I designed a hat that I thought would work well for anyone on your gift list, men, women, and kids. The simple pattern features ridges running down the hat all the way around. It is finished off with a post stitch ribbing and you can leave it plain or add a pompom. The pattern comes in 5 sizes from baby to adult.
I always think it is fun to look back at projects throughout the year, even though I didn't get as much posted this year as I would have liked. It is still neat to see the projects that did the best, and just look back at all of the things that I did make. Just like has happened in the past couple of years, the amigurumi from the crochet alongs took a lot of the top spots, especially the Little Safari Crochet Along. The Mini Amigurumi Crochet Alongs are some of my favorite things to do, it is fun coming up with the themes and the items to go along with the theme, and then challenging myself to figure out how to make them. I am sad I wasn't able to do more of them this year, I had some fun themes planned, but life happened and it didn't work out. But the good news is I already have stuff in the works for 2026, including the Bitty Blizzard Mini Amigurumi Crochet Along that starts January 5, and the year long Bear of the Month Crochet Along that starts January 1, and other crochet alongs for later in the year. I also hope to share a lot of other projects that I have planned, more crochet projects as well as sewing, Cricut, embroidery, kids crafts, and more.
Thank you for all of your support through the past year. I love sharing my patterns with you and seeing the things that you make. I am so grateful for all of you!
