5 Little Monsters: Twilight Cowl Crochet Pattern

Twilight Cowl Crochet Pattern

A few weeks ago I got a surprise box in the mail from Red Heart Yarns. Inside there were two balls of their boutique yarns, a tote bag and a stitch counter. The Twilight Cowl is the first project I am sharing made with the yarn they sent. I will be sharing the project I made with the other yarn soon. The cowl was made with the Twilight yarn, hence the name of the cowl, not very creative I know but I really hate coming up with names for patterns. Twilight is a Super Bulky yarn with short color changes. To be completely honest, I wasn't a huge fan of the Romantic colorway that they sent me because of the contrast between all of the colors, I think it made it a little busier than I would normally go for. I thought it looked good once it was finished and my daughter loved it, it just isn't what I would normally be drawn to. However they do have some colorways that have different shades of the same color and I think those would work up really pretty and a lot less busy, there is one in shades of blue, another in shades of green, one in grays and a few others as well.

I decided to make a cowl because it was a one skein project and because of the busyness of the yarn I wanted to do something with a really simple stitch. The combination of super bulky yarn, a big hook and a simple stitch made for a really quick and easy project.  The stitch that I decided to use is the v-stitch. I tried a few other stitches but they just didn't look right with the yarn. I finally decided to try something a little more basic and this is what I ended up with.  It fits an adult but I had my daughter model it for me.

The Twilight Cowl

Finished size laying flat about 12 inches x 6 inches, about 25 inches around
To make longer add multiple of 3

You will need:

Instructions:

ch 51, join in a circle careful not to twist ch

Round 1: ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), 1 dc in same ch, skip 2 ch, ([dc, ch 1, dc] in next stitch, skip 2 ch) repeat around, slip stitch to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4  (17 v-stitches)

Round 2: slip stitch to first ch 1 space, ch 4, dc in same space, skip 2 ch, ([dc, ch 1, dc] in next stitch, skip 2 ch) repeat around, slip stitch to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4  (17 v-stitches)

Repeat second round 5 more times for a total of 7 rows, finish off, weave in ends

Like I said, super easy. It works up in no time at all so if you are looking for a really quick crochet project pick up a skein of Red Heart Boutique Twilight and make a quick cowl.
