Happy Halloween Sign

Once September hits it always feels to me like the rest of the year flies by. Now that kids are back in school before we know it it will be October and Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I'm not sure what Halloween is going to look like this year, but whether or not there is trick-or-treating and  Halloween parades at school, one thing we can do no matter what is make cute decorations to put up in our houses.

This sign is a super simple, quick project. The perfect thing to get me in the mood for more halloween and fall crafting. The longest part is just waiting for paint to dry.

I painted an unfinished sign I bought at Micheals with white paint in the center, and black around the frame, then covered the black paint with Extreme Glitter paint also in black. It is hard to see in the picture but the black edge is really sparkly. Then I added some vinyl cut out with my Cricut to finish it.

I am sharing this as part of the Creative Halloween Crafts blog hop, over the course of this week lots of bloggers will be sharing fun Halloween projects. Click on the graphic below for lots more halloween craft inspiration!

How to Make a Happy Halloween Sign

You will need:

  • unfinished wood sign 18"x5"
  • acrylic paint in black and white (I used Folkart acrylics)
  • Folkart Extreme Glitter in black
  • paintbrushes
  • Cricut Explore or Maker
  • adhesive vinyl in black and orange
  • transfer tape

First paint your wood sign. Paint the inside portion white, and the outside edge/frame black.

Once the base layer of paint is dry add a coat (or more if you want it more glittery) of the black Extreme Glitter paint. Set aside to dry.

Cut the words out of black vinyl, you will need a long mat because it is longer than 12", cut the pumpkins out of orange.

Use transfer tape to put the words and pumpkins onto the painted wood sign.
