Today I have another project that I made with Easter in mind, although it doesn't actually have to be for Easter. I have a daughter who loves Squishmallows and other soft, squishy stuffed animal type toys like them. This little squishy chick was inspired by those type of stuffed animals, a really basic shape, but soft and squishy and cuddly.

About a month ago I redid my office space/craft room and while I was reorganizing everything it really made me realize how much yarn I had, and how little space I had to store it, so I made myself a goal to try to work on using up some of my yarn stash. Earlier this year I made a snowman plush with Sweet Snuggles Lite yarn and I had some pastel green and blue that I used just for a scarf and hat for the snowman, so I had almost a full skein of each left. I thought that even though a light yellow may have been better for a little chick plushie, any pastel color would work for an Easter chick. I ended up choosing the green that I had, plus the orange that I used for the snowman's nose, so I was able to use only yarn I had on hand, leftover from other projects, for this cute little squishy chick.

This little chick is about 8" tall, similar in size to the smaller dolls that inspired the idea. It is made with simple shapes, the body is just one big ball/egg kind of shape and then the little wings, feet, and beak are added on. This makes it a pretty simple stuffed animal to crochet and it works up fast. You can easily make more than out of one skein of Sweet Snuggles Lite, so in no time at all you could work up a whole bunch of Squishy Chicks for Easter.
