5 Little Monsters: Dishcloth Week- Bloque Stitch Dishcloth

Dishcloth Week- Bloque Stitch Dishcloth

Day 2 of Dishcloth Week. Yesterday I shared the first of 5 new dishcloth patterns this week, The Single Crochet Mesh Dishcloth. Today I am sharing the second, The Bloque Stitch Dishcloth.

The Bloque Stitch Dishcloth uses double crochet stitches that are worked into skipped stitches from a previous row, rather than into the stitches directly below. This creates a neat, almost woven looking texture.

I think it looks great in both solid and variegated yarn. I think it can be tricky to find patterns that work well with variegated yarn but I really like the way this one worked up in the variegated yarn I used.

Row 2: ch 4 (counts as hdc and ch 2), turn, skip 2 stitches [dc in the 2 skipped ch from the foundation ch (working oner the skipped ch), ch 2, skip next 2 stitches] repeat until 1 ch remaining, hdc in last stitch (turning ch)

Row 3: ch 2  (counts as first hdc), turn, [work a dc into the top of each of the next 2 stitches from round 1 (working over the ch from round 2),  ch 2, skip next 2 stitches] repeat until 1 ch remaining, hdc in last ch

Repeat rows 3 and 4 always working into the row 2 below, over the ch of the previous row, for a total of 20 rows or the size you want, ending with a row 4, then continue on to the final row

Final Row: ch 2  (counts as first hdc), turn, work a double crochet into the top of each of the dc from 2 rounds below, [hdc in the next 2 stitches (dc from last row), dc in next 2 stitches from 2 rows below] repeat until 1 ch remaining, hdc in last ch

Finish off, weave in ends
