5 Little Monsters: Crocheted Unicorn Purse

Crocheted Unicorn Purse

After I made a mermaid purse to go along with my mermaid pencil bag I decided I also needed to make a unicorn purse to go along my unicorn pencil bag. I made the mermaid version to match pretty closely with the pencil bag, but this time I kind of changed things up a little more. However, you could make them match more if you want.

I made the main portion of the purse very similar to the mermaid purse, minus the fin. Then I added appliqué pieces and embroidery to make it look like a unicorn, similar to what I did with the pencil bag. In fact the ears and horn are made exactly the same as the pencil bag.

The pieces that are different on the purse are that I crocheted eyes instead of just embroidering them, and instead of flowers I used little curly-q's to make mane pieces. If you prefer the sleepy eyes and/or the flowers you could easily switch them out following the instructions in the pencil bag pattern.

I also made the final round along the top of the bag and also the strap out of a contrasting yarn, I used a variegated yarn that I thought looked like unicorn mane colors, I used that same yarn for the curly mane pieces.

It is a small child size purse, just the right size for holding little treasures.
